I finally fixed the problem at my website to the point where I now have a common section. However, whenever I click my homepage, it still takes me to a blue screen with a little bit of writing on the far left-hand side of the screen. If you check out my site at http://www.4wheeledlefty.com you will see what I mean.

I change my theme to something completely different from what I had, and my new theme is the one that shows up when I make a new post. However, every post written after September 5 seems to have disappeared.

I suspect the problem may be located in the file tree at my Web server, although the technical support there hasn’t been very helpful in finding a problem. If I was to upload a screenshot of my file tree, would it be helpful for someone to help me out?

Even though my site seems to open at the URL,http:www.4wheeledlefty.com, it still doesn’t my latest post. It just shows a page that says “home”

No, I did not create a static homepage. I did not create a blog page either.

There is no file named index.html outside of the folders. All I see is my tree, and it only has folders. No stray files are outside of the tree. However, I did find more than one index.php into of the folders,wp-admin and wp-content. I found no index.php in the WP-includes.

As far as you finding WordPress 4.3 in my homepage source code, I have absolutely no idea how that might have happened. I update WordPress every time there is an update.

Is there a way to fix this?

I checked all three folders that you suggested, but I could not find index.html in any of them. Is there any way I can fix it?

I was able to go through my web host (Bluehost) and manually delete the theme. I downloaded a fresh version from WordPress.org, installed it, but unfortunately I still have the same problem. My homepage won’t show the latest post, and it also goes back to that blue scrambled theme.

I don’t know what to do next.

I have only one installation of WordPress installed.

I have tried to download a fresh copy of Twenty Sixteen, but it won’t allow me to do it.

I tried to uninstall all of my themes, and I was successful in doing so until I came to Twenty Sixteen, and for some reason it would not allow me to uninstall it. I thought that there may be some reason I could not uninstall a theme that I was currently using, so I chose another theme and activated it, thinking by doing this it would allow me to uninstall Twenty Sixteen. I was unsuccessful. For some reason the delete option was unavailable to me.

I also tried cutting and pasting the URL’s into my web browser, as you suggested. I also took a look at the source code and I agree with you about what it was.

There is no way that it should show my theme as being “Asteroids”, because I totally uninstalled it the other day.

Any suggestions about what I should do now? Should I keep trying to download a fresh version of Twenty Sixteen, or just reinstall the version I already have?

I put back all of the code in header.php, so you should now be able to see it. It has all been replaced, from what I copied to notepad.

    Yes, I deleted “Asteroids”

Yes, all of my plug-ins are deactivated

Yes, my “reading” setting is “latest posts”

I take no offense at your tone.

After I take all of my text out of header.php, paste it into my notepad, should I paste the text you give me in the shaded box into header.php? I assume I am, right?

    Thread Starter wheeler59

    (@wheeler59)

I already deleted “Asteroids” a couple of days ago after I thought it may be the source of my problem.

Also, I my “readings” setting, it is set to “latest posts”.

I edited the call, just like said. However, my problem still exists. Whenever I click on the title of my blog, “Crippled Politics”, but it still takes me to a scrambled blue page.

Could this whole problem be related to my plug-ins? If so, how do I fix it? Do I get rid of some of them? I have an idea that I probably have too many plug-ins that are creating some type of conflict. But I don’t know that.

What do you suggest that I do next?

    (@wheeler59)

    Neo,

I tried to edit my code as you told me to, but I could not find how to do this. I clicked the “editor” function, but I cannot find the section you told me to. I guess I really don’t understand how to edit my HTML.

BTW, I really appreciate your help. Where do I go from here? I am not ready to give up. This problem has been plaguing me for months, but I don’t how to fix it.

I clicked the link in the first message, and it looked different than what it was, since I changed my theme to Twenty Sixteen, as you suggested. Here is the link to my latest post, http://www.4wheeledlefty.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit

I don’t know what all of the other stuff in the URL means. The way I have it set up is supposed to show the date of the post first, the name of the blog second, and the title of this story last. The URL you sent me doesn’t look anything like its supposed to. It looks different than when I had my previous theme, CleanWP installed.

As for the other stuff you mentioned, “index.html” and index.php, even is or where to find it. How do I tell whether or not I have them?I’m really stumped here.

Yes, I am writing WordPress 4.4.1.

I did everything you said to do, but my homepage at: http://www.4wheeledlefty.com. It is still the same problem as before.

Have you clicked the link I gave for my website? If so, what do you see?

I deactivated all the plug-ins, installed the theme twenty sixteen, as you suggested, but the same thing happens. My homepage still shows my rate is post as being September 5 when I just posted my latest post on January 9.
