In reply to: [OneSignal - Web Push Notifications] OneSignal is malwareI realize that notifications are not supposed to be enabled without consent.
WordPress staff formally investigated the plugin, including the specific instance it had been used as described above, to be used as a malware platform.
My findings were replicated and corroborated by WordPress staff.
However, WordPress doesn’t patrol what people do with plugins once they’re distributed, so it was allowed to remain available here.
I suggest that the company take a close look at possible exploits and do their best to prevent its use as a malware platform.

In reply to: [Aviary Editor] Requires API key which is unavailableNevermind about requesting a previous source; checked the Other Versions listing here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/aviary-editor/developers/ and it always required the API key which, again, appears to be no longer available.

In reply to: [Frontend Publishing] "Too short" error messageMaybe it’s a plugin or permissions issue?
Also, is there a way to allow multiple image uploads without accessing the full media library?
What rank of user does the plugin use?

In reply to: How to automatically remove HTML from posts (as they are posted)?Update: After checking it out further, that plugin keeps any and all HTML formatting from displaying in any and all posts, new or old, including things like bold or links.
Unless there is a way to target that, like limiting it to a specific category, I guess this isn’t going to work.

In reply to: How to automatically remove HTML from posts (as they are posted)? That plugin worked perfectly!
Thank you very much, wptweaks!

In reply to: [Imsanity] Does not work with latest wordpress versionFWIW, if you’ve tried an uninstall and reinstall with the plugin, and file and directory permissions are not an issue, this sounds like a server issue (as in, your server may be overworked/underpowered).

In reply to: [Media File Cleaner] Don't waste your time – crippledDon’t harass your reviewers, Jordy. It automatically makes you into the bad guy, and frankly, your plugin is already doing that enough.
You did good work, but you also crippled the plugin.
In any case, the ability to select and delete multiple media files within the Media Library is now included in WordPress 4.5.1.

In reply to: Updated to 4.4.2, Visual editor broken?FWIW, nothing worked for us. We deleted the entire install, did another cpanel installation, re-downloaded theme, etc.
That worked, so I suspect either a faulty cpanel install, or something that theme developers are doing, was responsible.

In reply to: Updated to 4.4.2, Visual editor broken?Thank you, Tara. Very helpful. Here’s what I found:
– Permissions in directories are all set to 755, and files are all 644.
– wp-tinymce.php is present and accounted for.
– Yet, the Javascript error that I receive is:
http://url.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/wp-tinymce.php?c=1&ver=4208-20151113 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)– Which is followed by:
Uncaught ReferenceError: tinymce is not defined(anonymous function) @ post-new.php:2006Unsure what this means?
I can see it’s not finding that file, but it is actually there?

In reply to: [OneSignal - Web Push Notifications] OneSignal is malwareI was going to re-rank this, based on an offline conversation with Ipstenu.
But, the plugin has been converted to malware, bypassing user consent. That may not have been OneSignal’s intent, but that is what is happening. They can shore up their code to help prevent that, or not.
Plus, Michael Bryner, I’m so stupid, why would I?

In reply to: Does WordPress officially support malware (because it is)?User approvals were bypassed, in my experience. Automatic push notifications were enabled.
Background: We visited hungryforever dot com, started getting popups (after a “thank you for subscribing” popup). Later, popup notifications from the site began to appear on our PCs. Looking at source code for that site, in an attempt to figure out what malware we should learn how to disable, showed it was a wordpress site serving onesignal-provided popups.
I don’t know if that particular site will change their settings now/in future, yet in our experience, at least, onesignal.com notifications were automatically “approved” and enabled.
To verify, you may want to try that site and see if your Chrome settings are automatically changed also.
