How to automatically remove HTML from posts (as they are posted)?

    Question: Is there a plugin/technique for automatically removing specific HTML strings from a post when it is published?

    Background: I am using WordPress’ post-by-email + Postie plugin to publish alerts from a government listerv to my site.

    However, the “unsubscribe” info from the emails is being included in the posts, including links to unsubscribe.

    I tried the Text Obfuscator plugin, which removes text just as I need. However, it doesn’t appear to remove HTML (I guess that’s why it’s called “TEXT Obfuscator,” not “HTML Obfuscator”).

    Is there a way to automatically remove HTML from new posts?
