In reply to: Comments: logged in and can’t postAh, well the fun continues. Sorry this isn’t in original post.
Just changed the theme from Default (which sees problems like above post) to my own slightly tweaked one.
Now problems are:
Logged in users can post.
Guest commenters (non-logged in) do not see the Comment fields of name, email, url – and thus get the Error message (please fill in name/email etc).So the opposite to the problem above in a different theme.
Frustrating.

In reply to: Comments do not appear to be working (since upgrade to 1.5)locomote – sounds like I have pretty much exactly the same problem as you…
not that I can help – but just so you know you’re not the only one…!

In reply to: Name, mail and website don’t be registered in commentsdavincim, that’s precisely my problem too.
When an unregistered user wants to leave a comment, it reads:
“You are logged in as . Logout.”
You can logout, then log in as a new person, but the default remains nameless, and allows you to post comments as the administrator.. which is a bit worrying!
Anyone have any ideas?

In reply to: Strange goings on with upgradeAhh… finally the cause is found.. the file for some mysterious reason did not upload, hence ‘no input file’. Well, sometimes computers DO tell it to you straight…
Could happen to anyone with suspect internet connections and/or FTP upload conditions, so beware…
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Another Installation ProblemOk, sorted it. Deleted all the files, and loaded them up in a new directory – http://www.domain.com/blog. This seemed to do the trick, so now I’m ready to rock. Hope this might help any other strugglers…

In reply to: Another Installation ProblemAdmin aren’t being particularly useful, unfortunately. However, they have confirmed the name for my database, and it’s the one I have been trying for the last couple of days. So I have the DB name, the username, password and host name they supply. I know they are running an up to date version of MySQL and PHP. But I still get the above error message saying my wp-config.php file isn’t correct and there’s an error establishing a database connection.
Anyone, anything??Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Another Installation ProblemThanks for that.
Just about to give up on this – it’s been hours, not five minutes! When I go to http://www.domain.com/wp-admin/install.php I get:Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
* Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?Yes, I know I have the correct username and password.
I only have one database hosted with my server, and know the correct name.
Host server gives Host Name for database as mysql9.secureserver.net so I’ve tried this instead of ‘localhost’ but no luck. ‘localhost’ doesn’t work either.
Any thoughts?Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Another Installation ProblemIt may be also worth noting a reply I had from my web server support:
Thank you for contacting customer support. We are currently running PHP ver. 4.3.2 and MySQL ver. 4.0.14 on our hosting servers. I would recommend that you view the following link to see if you are trying to utilize a feature that has been disabled for security reasons:
http://ftphelp.secureserver.net/php-mysql-tutorial.html
We also run our Hosting Servers in Safe Mode and will not be able too turn off this feature.Following that link tells me 1001 different things about PHP and MySQL that means absolutely nothing to me. Does it look as if it is going to work with this host, or is it likely I will have to change? Or is it not a problem with the host at all but something else?
Any ideas, please, anything!
