I am having the same issue.
WPML can use conditional tags. I’ve not used them for this kind of text. I’ll see what works.

If I change the text strings under display options I will still have an issue with the translation I believe because the same code will be used in each language.
Using WPML I can translate any strings found in the plugin but I don’t think the display option text are found. I guess my only other option would be a bilingual display.
I have a similar issue, I need to translate other strings such as “More details…”. I am using WPML to manage my translation and there are strings not showing up.
