In reply to: Migrating Catasropheok, we are madly working on it with three tonight, will keep you posted!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Migrating CatasropheWe just moved the files around and right now they are exactly as they where when both sites worked, but the main one isn’t working.
I really just want it to work in the opposite as it was, with the new site at the normal url and the old site hidden. (if possible) at this point if I can just get the new site up and loose the old one that is also ok, just can’t bear loosing a month of work setting up the new site.
I would really appreciate any advice you might have!

In reply to: Migrating CatasropheShould have also mentioned in my messing about I managed to get even three times the tables I needed on the database, thus the new wordpress page when you go to http://www.turtlewings.be/temp
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Problem while upgrading any plug-inI am having a similar issue with ALL new plug-ins, plus the manual way I use to use is not working either. They appear in my content file, but when I look in plug-ins on my dashboard there are no new ones. I have tried with nearly 10 plugins, none show up!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can’t see new plug ins!I made EVERYTHING inactive, but it still doesn’t show up. I deleted the plug-in and re-installed it at least 5 times. I tried to make it readable. I then deleted all the inactive plug-ins that I thought I would never use (a lot I am afraid, not sure how there got to be so many)from the server. I believe the problem might be the communication between the server and wordpress, although I haven’t had it before. I realized after deleting the files from the server directly they still display in wordpress plug-in menu. If I try to delete them directly from wordpress I get an error.
Very annoying that the ones I don’t want won’t go away and the one I want won’t show up! urrggg
Thanks for your advice so far!

In reply to: Can’t see new plug ins!Yes, it says it needs 2.8 or newer and I have 2.9.1. I put the whole folder in the plug in file.

In reply to: Changed to pretty premalinks and now NO SITE!Went in and changed all permissions back to how they where and now it works, but without pretty permalinks, which i wanted to have easier links and run the plug WP Hive Warning.
Do you have any idea what I can do to make this work?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Changed to pretty premalinks and now NO SITE!So it worked to delete it, but only for the homepage and admin page. When I change permalinks back to default it is error 500 again.

In reply to: Changed to pretty premalinks and now NO SITE!I am not very good at this, but here is the file .htaccess I just downloaded from my server. I will try to delete it now! crossing fingers!

In reply to: Uploading html presentation?Ok, it does sound stupid that I was trying to upload a html file into my (x)html file. Your method sounds simple, but I am afraid I still do not know how to do what you suggest. How do I link to it? I placed my file in my public folder and I tried through the linking menu, like you usual link to other websites I used both the normal http://www.turtlewings.be/wp-content/bozarpresent2.html and then I tried the way it looks when it works from my computer which is file:///wp-content/bozarpresent2.html I know this probably is also a stupid move, but I really do not know how to do this.
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: Can not change optionsTo say this is resolved is not very helpful to others who may have this problem. My site is working! Do not ask me how, exactly. What happened in the end was I was sitting staring at the error message in some language I will probably never understand and gave up. I closed the browser window, but there was still a browser window hidden that popped up, which still had the admin panel from the options I was trying to change. I felt my site was permanently down and what the heck I pressed on view site. Still an error message! Back button! Then I pressed on my profile for some reason and it said “This site is not yet updated do you want to update?” YES! And up popped my site 🙂
So, thank you to who ever made that work!

In reply to: Can not change optionsThis is why people like me should not mess with this #$%%!
So, I got antsy and thought why not just upgrade to 2.3 maybe there is something corrupt. So I did a back up on my database manually hopefully I did it correctly. I even installed a backup plugin and used it. Then I upgraded my wordpress. While the files where transferring I got this error that it could not copy image folder in the wp-admin folder. It got to the point where I just took all the files hide them and copied all the new ones on with the old wp-content.
Now, my site is truly dead. http://www.turtlewings.be all this for an added feature in the sidebar called “Our Blog” Tinkering should be a crime for people with no aptitude for programing!
If anyone has any kind words I could use them now!

In reply to: Can not change optionsI have reported to them. I am really stumped! I began messing about today and realized I can change and update everything in the admin EXCEPT in the Options/Reading section, which of course is the only place I need to make a change.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can not change optionsI get no other errors and didn’t change anything. I just decided that I want a link to all my blog posts on my site. Like “Our Blog” Now, I have a static first page.
I tried to create a .htaccess page with the given code, but then I could not even get into my admin area. I do not see an existing .htaccess file anywhere so I created one with just the code given. Is there something more I should do to create a .htaccess file.
Sorry for the amature questions!
