I’m having the similar problem. I did de-activate all plugins and only reactivated Next-Gen. But in my case, I continued to have the same problem!

“… thumbnails are no longer created. The progress bar shows up and appears to be doing something, but it never finishes / closes. All the thumbnails appear as broken image links.”

I checked my memory limits 526M <- Definitely not the problem
Verified my db wasn’t corrupted.

I’m not sure where to go from here. Any advise greatly appreciated.
