    Just FYI, “inline and defer CSS” on breaks my site. I don’t know what happened before that I thought it was working ok (maybe it was only on Admin mode).

    Anyway, I’ll figure something out. So far, much has improved since I started using AO!

    First of all, I want to truly thank you for your fast reply. It means a lot to me, because I struggle a lot with these subjects. I’ll update this post as a follow-up and if you could help me, I would be really thankful again.

    I followed your recommendation: “inline and defer CSS” on, and using the tools you list on your FAQ, I copied the above the fold CSS. My website has responded well and the performance report doesn’t return a “render-blocking” result. Good! 🙂

    However, now, it returns “Remove unused JavaScript” and also the “unused CSS”. In both cases, there’s only one file, and both files share the path
    https://mywebsite.com/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/autoptimize_xxxxxx.php
    Just FYI, these are my JS options in AO

    I’m aware of what you mentioned about the unused CSS in your previous reply. I just wanted to update this in case there is an easy fix / recommendation you can give me. If not, no worries, I’m still very thankful for the plugin and the excellent support!

    PS: amazing free classes @ Load Lab! The first 2 have already helped me A LOT to optimize my website. Now waiting for the last 🙂

    First of all, thanks for your time and your kind reply 🙂

    I have disabled optimization when upload. Uploaded a new set of images and then optimized some images individually and the rest with bulk optimizer.
    I also tried resizing large images in Settings > Media, first to 0 and run the optimizer. Then to 2800 (above my largest image, which is 2580) and also run the optimizer. In all cases, the results are still the same. These are examples of two images I just tried optimizing.

    Original Filesize:
    1 MB
    Level:
    lossless
    Thumbnails Optimized:
    12
    Overall Saving:
    1%

    New Filesize:
    1 MB
    Original Saving:

    Thumbnails Optimized:

    Overall Saving:
    5%

    When I check the image individual page via Media Library, the dimensions are correct and the size is the same of the file I uploaded, no reduction / optimization whatsoever.

    First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my message and answer me in such a thorough and kind manner. Much appreciated.

    I completely understand the situation you mention about CF7, the workload (and probably dealing with people expecting excellence and quickness from a group of volunteer workers of a free plugin), so let metake advantage of this new message to extend my gratitude and admiration for all of you involved with CF7 in any way. Seriously, your skills and generosity are remarkable.

    I also understand and agree with your position regarding premium products. I might have been wrong coming here to ask for help in the first place.
    For future occasions, I would like to know how to answer when I’m asked about a product that happens to be premium.

    Last but not least, thank you so much again, this time for your last paragraph. That is really helpful and nice of you, and I appreciate it a lot. Sometimes, kindness might take an extra minute but it’s always worth it.

    Hello again,

    Before anything else, I would like to insist that I had no intentions of disrespecting the etiquette of the forum, neither I wanted to promote any product. I’m just an individual starting a business blog on my own, with very little experience, who landed here seeking help.

    All I came here to say in this message comes out of respect and appreciation to people like you that develop freeware for the benefit of others, which I highly admire, and, at the same time, out of confusion and astonishment because of what happened in this thread.

    In the first place, I think I came to the right place to seek help about a Contact Form issue. Before I posted my message, I searched the forum for similar cases. Then, I decided to post my question. Very shortly after, I was replied by you, the developer (which is always a privilege and something noteworthy) , who asked me a very direct question, that I answered precisely and to the point.

    It is your next reply is what I can’t still understand at all. Why ask me about the theme in the first place if my answer won’t be accepted, or will infringe the rules or create a problem? I didn’t come here to post anything about any commercial products, I just answered the question I was asked. I made a mistake I wasn’t aware of and I apologized for it.

    Why show interest in my inquiry but then, after answering your question, being told to seek help out of here, contacting the theme’s developers?

    Why mark the topic as resolved when no real answers or directions, or attemps of explaining something constructive were given?



    I fully understand that there should be no expectations at all when asking for help regarding free plugins or open source software, especially in forums like this one that’s run by volunteers. This is not what bugs me in any case. I want to make this clear. Like I said, I highly value and appreciate the work of all the community of freeware developers. What I would like to understand is why this attitude and behavior towards me in this thread. I understand I need to be told I did something prohibited that can’t be repeated. What I don’t understand is why after that I’m sent away and denied help, with no further reason. Doesn’t this defeat the whole purpose of having a support forum?

    I’m sorry, it was never my intention to break the rules of the forums.

    I’m a bit confused though, because you asked me what theme I am using and I just gave you the answer. I linked to it so you would have easier access in case you wanted to check it out. My mistake. I wasn’t aware of the prohibition and I apologize for that.

    I figured out a way to temporarily fix my problem. I also realized that when tranlastions for the posts are available, the grids automatically show the translated version in the second language 🙂

    Hi Scott,

    Like the previous times I asked for your assistance, thank you very much for your response 🙂

    I see lots of errors in my console. Unfortunately, I am not able to decipher them :`/

    This is the heading of the first message (yellow background):
    Error while detaching the browsing context target front: Connection closed, pending request to server1.conn4.parentProcessTarget1, type detach failed

    After it, I get a bunch of red backgorund error messages, all of them containing “Toolkit.Telemetry”.

    Then, in yellow again:
    Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://s.w.org/wp-includes/fonts/dashicons.eot. (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing).

    After that, another load of Toolkit.Telemetry and at the end, this final message:
    Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub/wpcom/me/newest-note-data.

    I noticed it keeps trying to establish a connection, but it never does. It becomes a constant loop of the previous errors.

    I hope all this makes some sense to you!

    Would it be possible to rename this particular selector in the plugin files to make it work?

    Is it something that could be done in a child theme or an independent code snippet so changes are not lost in future updates?

    I tried the code, both in the Plugin’s settings page > Advanced Options > Custom CSS and under Appearance > Customize > Other, and it didn’t work in either case.
