I shall not edit source code after drinking champagne (or something remotely similar) so I will look into that tomorrow but I am thrilled to hear from you that you got this working without conflict so that this could work out for my sites too – am looking forward to trying out your advice tommorrow so already thanks a lot for your reply

at this time don’t want to risk installing a plugin just to change a petty little thing and am too lazy to search php files for where that wording is defined so I guess “Hello world!” it shall stay to be after all it’s a legendary title for a first sample post at least 🙂

I already have customized the text but there seems to be no option to change the title of that sample post in my super admin 3.0.1

. . . wouldn’t have started a topic about that since it doesn’t matter much but could I just change the “Hello world!” title of the sample post to “Hola”? without a plugin

good point after all I guess I’ll just change some wordings for signup and rewrite the introducory info / faq page I did to point users in a direction that makes sense for my site again thanks for your responses

damn it 🙂 you are right how could I miss that? anyway thanks for nevertheless answering to a stupid question then

hm I would have liked one blog per user and blogname = username but guess I can live with the way it is set up by default too . . .

sounds like solid advice thanks should I drop my wordpress newcomer doubts about installing plugins in general (so far I am using none) I am looking forward to following your pointers so again thanks . . .

although I guess at this time I will first take a look at what I might find and can possibly hack in the individual network themes which probably is at least half of a solution if I get it right and no big harm if not 🙂

won’t upgrade themes seems not worth the risk and have no plugins installed but 3.0 to 3.0.1 just worked fine automatic

    cool 🙂

after fooling around with dolphin 7 and almost dropping the whole community aspect for my site I am so completely thankful for wordpress 3 with multisite integration since it well just seems to work . . . so I am also eager to learn the terms . . .

. . . even the automatic update to 3.0.1 I did an hour ago seems to have worked the site shows up just like before . . .

    🙂

will keep track of my hacks though from now on

    🙂

I just set up a site and network (3.0) and just got to starting the first network blog created for myself and for testing purposes . . .

am no expert but guess the use of tags is restricted on network blogs to simple ones like <a href and some others for security reasons and well I guess that makes sense . . .

although I was shocked at first when it seemed that me and future other users would not be able to for example embed a youtube clip . . . <object embed code completely gone after saving a post but as for this I found an even easier way to include youtube clips . . .

copy and paste the link to the youtube clip page . . .

and that’s it . . . no need to even define it as a link just copy and paste it as regular text via visual or html post editor to the place in the post where you want the clip to show up – downside of it is that users can’t define the display dimensions of the clip . . . only tried out one theme yet where the default clip dimensions the ‘system’ seems to chose are okay with the layout of the theme . . .

(I think there’s some setting in the main admin about “always try to convert links” or something so maybe this needs to be switched on for the above to work but I think it is switched on by default so this should work and at least for me as a newbie this solved a problem so I mentioned it as for youtube clips)
