Same thing happened to me.
I deleted the folder with the plugin, and site is working, but can’t login to the admin.
I get the following error:
W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /var/www/html/tumbleweedhouses.com/1/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.
Tried to delete advanced-cache.php, but got a 500 error, so I put it back.
At least my site is up and running, but can’t get into back end.
I have the same problem too. Just upgraded W3 Total Cache.
I used FTP and deleted the directory “w3-total-cache” from the plugins and the site works. However, I still can’t login to the backend.
When I try I get an error:

I deleted the advanced-cache.php, but the site crashed again. So I put it back in.
My site is running, but I’m locked out from the admin.
