You will need a a WordPress account its free. Stats will show your page hits and where the referers are and Askimet is a well implimented spam management system both plugins are invisible to your visitors..Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: Another Political Blog. Thanks you guys are great! you enabled me to get a few hits and check out the stats plugin. I have to admit after using Blogger for so long I really appreciate WP asit is so easy and flexible!!

In reply to: Tryng to get WP working on my home server.I appreciate your effort at trying to help.
What do you see when you visit http://borgserver/borgserver/ without the /wp-admin? If WordPress isn’t installed (which it doesn’t sound like it is yet), it should walk you through the installation process.
I get “Error establishing a database connection”
I do have the file “http://borgserver/borgserver/wp-config.php”
and it gives me the same “Error establishing a database connection” when I attempt to call it from my web browser. It looks like I never got a proper install. Is there a way I can restart the install, or configure wp-config?
I could delete uninstall and start over.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Tryng to get WP working on my home server.somchy thanks for responding!!
My problem is that I don’t even know where to look.
I attempt to login at:
http://borgserver/borgserver/wp-adminand I get :
Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down. Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.I think this means mysql isn’t working.
I did a phpinfo.php and found this.mysql

In reply to: Tryng to get WP working on my home server. No help to be found here. I heard that WordPress is the best, but without any support to help me get it running, I will have to use something else. This is the first time I’ve ever asked for help in the open Source community and and not even pulled a single response in 24 hours..
It’s a shame that I am going to have to give up on what looks to be the best program to revive my comatose blog. Simply because there is the no support for an outsider that is a beginner. I don’t feel picked on, I have noticed that there it is not uncommon for request for help to go unanswered in this forum. It looks like there just isn’t anyone knowledgeable in installations that is willing or able to help.

In reply to: Tryng to get WP working on my home server.I don’t think MYSQL is working, how can I check that?
Is this beyond hope? Or is there another site where I can go and get some help? I am really stuck and don’t know what to do.
