    Hi

The tooltip appears always to the position of the topmost point of the area. I’m not exactly sure why it does this, but it’s the default funcionality of ImageMapster jquery plugin. People have also told me that they don’t want to the highlighted area of the image to be hidden (e.g. under the tooltip), so I think I’ll stick with the current tooltip positioning.

Fallback links are normal links under the image that user can use to access the image map area content if image maps aren’t working for some reason. Clicking them is basically same as clicking highlights.

    Hello,

is it possible to reopen a saved imagemap?
Yes it is. You can open saved Image maps from “All Image maps” under “Image maps” tab.

is it possible to link a maparea to an port or page id?
This is possible with the most recent version of the plugin. Just open the Image map edit page and choose Link from mouse events. There you can choose between a link to a post, a link to a page or a link to an URL.

    Hi,

Great idea! I made an update now which includes internal linking.

Thanks for offering help too, even though I didn’t need it this time though.

    Hi,

You’re right, it’s related to jQuery.

[Not really relevant technical stuff] Basically the problem is that jQuery is included twice. A WordPress installation includes a copy of jQuery and jQuery UI and ImageMapper is using them. Unfortunately Accordion Image Menu isn’t using the copy included with WordPress but its own copy of the two libraries, which causes conflict with the jQuery included in WordPress.

It’s possible to make an option not to include jQuery in ImageMapper. However with the recent versions of WordPress it’s not absolutely necessary, because WordPress is able to check if its own copy of jQuery is already included and if it is WP won’t include it twice. Another problem is that the Accordion Image Menu is using an old version of jQuery and customized version of jQuery UI and I can’t really import the current version of the dialog widget in it.

However the reason why the menu wasn’t working was that ImageMapper crashed if the jQuery UI Dialog wasn’t available. The newest version won’t crash anymore, but unfortunately without access to jQuery UI Dialog the popup window feature can’t be used. Links and tooltips will work fine though.

Thanks for pointing this out anyways.

    Hi,

The layout issues with the dialog can be fixed in future releases. However since IE 7 and 8 doesn’t support features like element shadows, I cannot guarantee a full compatibility. The editor in the admin panel probably will not work with IE 8 or earlier.

I’m pretty curious though about the reasons why do you need to use IE7 or 8. I realize that for example Windows XP doesn’t support newer versions of IE, but it does support other browsers where using IE7 or IE8 is quite big security risk.

Anyways the answer to the question is pretty much that theoretically the plugin might work with IE7 and IE8 in front end and the admin panel it won’t. I don’t aim for full compatibility but the layout issues you mentioned might be fixed in future releases.

Unfortunately I don’t really have the resources for full backward compatibility with old browsers. But thanks for your interest and thanks for pointing out those issues. The dialog layout problems seem to be reasonably easy to fix.

    Glad you got it working!

I’ve been thinking about the editing option, but haven’t managed to get it done yet. It will be included in the future uploads surely though.

Hmm. Did you change the style from the image map area edit page? The Highlight Styles page in Image Map Areas menu is currently only for adding new styles (and yes, the red border highlight there is useless and misguiding, I didn’t realize to remove it yet).

To change highlight style of image maps you need to change them from Image map area edit page.

Hi and sorry for late answer. Holiday season is busy as always. Good to hear you like the plugin!

I’ve fixed the problem with black hover effects now. The black effects should be semi-transparent white now by default and you can also choose different color for each highlight.

No problem. Glad you got it working.

    Thanks for reporting the problem.

Hmm. For some reason I’m not able to reproduce the problem which makes diagnosing hard. Can you tell which browser and browser version are you using? Also are you using some plugins which might affect to the editor or media uploader functionality?

The code does not actually add an image to the text, only a small tag like this: [imagemap id=”{ID}”]. (The reason for this is that the code for an image map can be huge and editing the post code would be a way harder.)

Hi and sorry for late answer.

For some reason that bug happens with the new Media uploader in WP 3.5. I’ve fixed the problem and will update it today as soon as possible.
