Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: "View all posts" reappearingUpgrading WordPress versions does other things to to my site too, and I’ve been able to fix a few of them. For instance, in the contact form, it added a “/5]” in the message part, which limited me to 5 letters in the message body. I took it out and now it’s fine.
Ultimately I guess I got what I paid for, which is a down and dirty website that works, but that isn’t very beautiful looking. Such is life. It still has helped with my search engine ranking, etc.

In reply to: "View all posts" reappearingThanks, guys. The last time I upgraded my WP version, same thing happened, and I emailed my website builder, and he fixed it. Every time I ask for fixes though, it costs me. The whole idea was to have a site that I could maintain without constantly having to pay for fixes.
The next time I contact him, I will ask him to build something into it so that the “view all posts” stops coming back with every WP version upgrade.
I guess to some degree, I just have to accept it as ongoing website maintenance that I have to pay for.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: social media buttons disappearedIt was fine for several months, until I upgraded to 3.5.1. That’s when the like & share buttons beneath each post went away. I don’t know what he used to customize the theme from. They just want more money to do anything to the site now, including fixing what broke after an upgrade.
My options seem to be either to have the earlier version of the site reinstalled (i did backups) or to pay someone to fix it. But if I reinstall the site, again I’m afraid it won’t go right, and I’ll just break more stuff, causing more headaches.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: social media buttons disappearedYes, the support would be nice. I had my blog custom designed so I could have the logo I made on there, and the background like I have it. I like the idea of it being custom – a one of a kind, as opposed to a template. But now I realize that with custom designs, comes ongoing costs for things like repairs. When they designed my blog, they also designed the rest of the site, so it all looks like it belongs together.
At this point, if I were to change themes, the entire site would probably break.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: social media buttons disappearedThis wordpress site has been a headache. Breaks, costs money and mostly the wasted time googling and reading through posts of other frustrated people. Forget the whole thing

In reply to: social media buttons disappearedThe guy who designed it wants to charge me $120 to put the button back. I guess I’ll just live without them. I don’t have unlimited money to spend.

In reply to: social media buttons disappearedIs it possible that this thing could just stop breaking? Is there a plugin for that? Completely frustrating. And then they want $$ to fix what should have worked right in the first place.

In reply to: social media buttons disappearedI do have a full backup, at least I think it is a full backup. Went to my cPanel at my host and downloaded it. I don’t know how to restore it though. I’m afraid I’ll break more stuff doing it!
