In reply to: How can we Podcast now with 2.0?Soundtrip: I went to my admin page and tried to edit the post with the unlisted podcast in it, went to the “add new custom field” section, and my podcast (including size) was ALREADY there! I hit update and voila! the ‘enclosure’ appeared in my rss feed. Strange.

In reply to: Theme won’t load in Internet ExplorerWhat is this “styles_IE.css”??
My blog, Wisdom, at http://staroftexas.net/journal looks beautiful using Firefox, and looks like crap using IE. (Why am I not surprised?)
What’s the fix?

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress & PHP 5Once again, I get a chance to demonstrate my ignorance.
I have gone to the downloads section…and to the “nightly builds”. I can’t access the nightlies for 2004-10-4, which, supposedly would fix my problem.
The nightlies available to me are from the 17th through the 23rd of October, and none of them contain a wp-config.php file….only samples which contain partial config.php files, NONE of which are any different than the information in my original wp-config.php file.
On the off chance that it’s the LOGIN that I needed to change, I did so. No help.
Out of the goodness of your heart, won’t somebody take me through this, step-by-step, so that I may finally get to the joys of blogging?

In reply to: WordPress & PHP 5I really need to fix this problem with my two blogs. Can someone explain what “nightly builds” are and how I install? Webhost server is using Apache 1.3.31 and PHP 5. something. An anonymous poster said that nightly build 2004-10-4 fixed the problem for him, but I have NO friggin’ idea what that means!!

In reply to: Here’s a New One For YouSorry about the poor grammar in the previous post…the word should be “their” and not “there”. I say this just so you know that I am not just some illiterate bozo.

In reply to: Here’s a New One For YouPlease explain, Mac. Where do I find these ‘permissions’ in order to check them?
I searched ‘login.php’ and found nothing resembling my problem.

In reply to: Here’s a New One For You[Wed Oct 20 20:11:05 2004] [error] [client 66.XX.X.XX] Premature end of script headers: /home/XXXXXX/public_html/dharma/wp-login.php
The above line, along with lines indicating that 404.shtml, 500.shtml and robot.txt files do not exist, were found in my error logs.
What does ‘Premature end of script headers’ mean? Can I just replace that file to solve the problem?

Suggestions?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Write via Email FeatureOk….How do I execute a wp-mail.php file and what, exactly, is a cron job?
I know that my host allows and provides a pgm for cron jobs, I just don’t know what it is. Sorry, but I’m a ‘duh!’ about a lot of this. It’s all new to me.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Blogging by email – another way?Sorry….forgot to mention….webhost is: UKHOST4U . VERY reasonable rates!
I paid 29.99 pounds (about $55.00, U.S.) for Domain for a year, 25000 meg bandwidth/month, 1000 meg of space, and more free pgms than I could ever use, including one touch installation of things like WordPress, PHP-Nuke, guestbooks, file management, etc, etc. Unlimited subdomains, unlimited POP email accounts…and more. All in all, a terrific deal…and crons are included.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Blogging by email – another way?If you’re still looking for free crons…my webhost apparently allows unlimited
free crons with basic hosting.
Only problem is, I don’t know a cron from a chronic headache!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Help. I don’t speak technoese!Podz…
So changing my wpblog is as simple as renaming and uploading those files? Cool. That I can handle!
I am using CoffeeCup FTP, and had a bugger of a time actually getting it to log onto my site…but if it won’t do the CHMOD thing, I’ll try one of those recommended on the tambra2 site.
Also, just for my information, what the hell does CHMOD stand for, anyway?
Thank you both, podz and regina for helping.
One more VIQ…(very important question) or two, actually. How did you guys learn this stuff? And what is the easiest and most direct way for a 53 year old newbie to learn this stuff?
