As the content creator, your primary interest, I assume, would be in the text content and the media (image) files, yes?

Yes, exactly. I guess if a copy of those things still exists on the server side I’ll just have to live with that.

Is there a way to completely shutter a blog on WordPress.Org? Ideally, I’d export everything and plop it onto WordPress.com or something, and then shut everything down over here.

Esmi, thank you so much. Does the exported file contain whatever’s on the database? (And what exactly is on the database? Is it anything I need to care about?)

Oh, I’m sorry – I did say that at first and must have edited it out by accident. Yes, I do have access to Tools/Export on the backend.

Again, much thanks for your time.

Yes, it appears so. And also: I very much appreciate your time.

Forgive my ignorance, but in looking around on the WordPress.Org website, it looked like there’s a distinction between the database and everything else, and that it’s these two components which represent the actual, like, end product.

Is there a way I can export (or otherwise control) the database, if it’s only stored on a server I don’t have access to? Or is that an irrelevant question, because exporting will do everything for me?

(What I would like to avoid is some kind of botched half-measure that alerts her to the fact I’m trying to do this, because God only knows what would happen.)

I don’t like being this dumb, but asking questions is the only way I’ll learn.
