That won’t be going into this plugin anytime soon. The point is to minimal but effective and not have a bunch more confusing metaboxes for people to worry about. There’s some stuff in the roadmap to help with more advanced tuning of the content but for now using the excerpt and title is the way it is.
this is still in the roadmap. trying to do it w/o ‘borrowing’ code from other’s plugins but not sure there’s really another way lol. need more free time from work. Wanted to let you know it’s still on my mind.
pushed in 1.5
no. in the future it will work with seo plugins and the bigger frameworks but it’s built to use the page or post title.
Yeah sorry about that. 1.5.1 is in the repo and fixes that issue.
That said… http://web-sniffer.net shows your site loading fine and having a 200 everything is good code. FB is bugging out.
Indeed I did.
Facebook is seeing your domain as throwing a 503 response code… that means service unavailable. Upon debugger refresh it’s now a 206 response code which is 206 Partial Content…
I HIGHLY doubt that’s a plugin issue. First off… Facebook is ALWAYS buggy… and I mean ALWAYS… making this plugin and doing FB apps for a while has made me understand that. Also they’re always working on the debugger and I constantly have issues with it.
That said.. most of the support issues I’ve had emailed to me are because Facebook is really good at breaking shit. The plugin is fine and wouldn’t be messing with your site response codes – I’d say give it time and make sure your DNS and server are all stable and just keep refreshing the debugger. If it shares okay then you’re good.
Uh that’s because the page is 503…

right now it’s a parking page at godaddy.bump. needs patch.
The only thing that can be different is Facebook holds a cache of links. I don’t know for how long but that’s the only reason it would show different results than the debugger. Debugger shows non-cached data. The normal share on facebook.com isn’t far behind getting new data, but again – I don’t know how long they hold cache.
if every wordpress install in the world always and forever used “read more” then sure. Even with the small amount of ppl said to be using the plugin I know I already have users in South America and Canada aside from the US users… different languages, styles, etc… anybody can change that so a regexp or pregmatch wouldn’t work.
bothers me I can’t close this topic… grr :/
The plugin isn’t doing anything different – Facebook is typically buggy and never consistent so it’s on them. I see different stuff almost daily with the way it pulls OGP
It would be as much work for me to do that than it would be to add it. the problem is I don’t have the time right now with work. I am building into my bandwidth so soonish… sorry best I can do unless somebody wants to add it via pull request on github and I’ll validate and push it through.
standby
by doing that you’re making it part of the excerpt thereby pulling it into the og:desc. I don’t see a way to scrub that as everybody’s functions would be named differently. No way to get around that.
