Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Page Cannot DisplayAttempting installs:
http://www.cp-plus.com/HRGBlog/wp-admin/install.php
AND
http://www.bbg-pies.com/wp-admin/install.php
on the same server, using PHP5.2.6 and MySql 5.0.
Downloaded WP2.5.1 from here. Unzipped and copied folder(s – two installations) to server space. Completed wp-config file(s). When I run …/wp-admin/install.php I get Page Cannot Display error. BUT, install.php is there in the same wp-admin directory where I copied and can access the Readme file.
All of my prior WP installations have been a “stumble upon” process at this very spot. I never understand how I eventually get it to work.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback.

In reply to: Install.php results in Page Cannot Display ErrorO.K. At the risk of personal embarrassment (once we find the easy explanation/fix for this) versus days of agonizing frustration, I have:
Uploaded new WP files and folder (three times), and continue to get Page Cannot Display error when I attempt /wp-admin/install.php. The /install.php file is present and when I copy the readme.html file into this directory, it displays.
Stuck!

In reply to: Install.php results in Page Cannot Display ErrorYes…the install.php file is present in the /wp-admin directory! So, if I can display other files in the same directory, my URL addressing doesn’t seem to be the issue.
Are there any other reasons why I would receive this error message, if in reality, the install.php is there?

In reply to: Install.php results in Page Cannot Display ErrorWhen I substitute /wp-admin/install.php with /wp-admin/readme.html (which I copy into that subdirectory)I am able to display this file.
