look at the video of the Weekly Announcements that is in the lower right corner of the landing page.
It is sourced from our servers and plays on click number one from desktop but takes two clicks on mobile.
We have the same issue on our media sites and have not found anyway around it. the licensed version of JWPlayer doesn’t get rid of it either. I’ve tried other players even and can’t get it to change.
It appears to be the way the code is read on devices that aren’t reading the .flv file. To minimize data transfer the player usually grabs the static image or blank screen fill and puts the ‘Play’ button over the top of the image. It isn’t until you click the first time that it actually seeks the html5 or iOS version to load. Then it plays with the second click.
I realize this doesn’t solve your issue but at least it helps to know you aren’t the only one fighting it.
