Hi!
I have the same problem. In my case when I disable the autoresponder the issue dissapears.
The weird thing is, with the autoresponder enabled the email is actually sent, the subscriber is added to the Mailchimp list and everything works fine except for the arrow that keeps spinning.
After 5-10 minutes the message is finally shown.
