@patrickr86 hello Patrick, make sure bot had admin permissions or the specific permissions I shared above
@moderator thanks for informing me,
But I couldn’t understand or related correctly what you want to share.
memberpress discord add on is different than discord add on,
also both plugin have commerical options enabled with support URL
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for sharing the details. I tested the PMPro Discord add-on (latest version) and the connection flow is working correctly. The issue you described seems to be related to server join permissions or bot setup. Let’s go through the checks:
1. Verify Bot Permissions
- Ensure the bot is added to your Discord server and has these OAuth2 scopes and permissions:
botscope with the following permissions:Manage RolesCreate Instant Invite
guilds.joinscope (important for automatically adding users to the server).
- You can confirm this by visiting the Discord Developer Portal → OAuth2 → URL Generator for your bot.
2. Check Bot Status
- Confirm that the bot not kicked/disabled.
- If the bot was removed and re-added, you might need to reconnect PMPro settings and update the Bot Token.
3. Re-Authorize the Add-on
- Sometimes cached tokens cause issues.
- Disconnect your account and clear the PMPro Discord user meta.
- Reconnect to the Discord server using the link again.
4. Double-Check Membership Level Mapping
- Since the user is being recognized (Discord name appears), roles may still fail if role mapping in PMPro settings isn’t correctly assigned.
- Go to Memberships → PMPro Discord Settings and confirm role mapping for each membership level.
5. Test with a New Discord Account
- Use a fresh Discord account to verify the issue.
- If the new account connects successfully, the problem may be server-level bans or restrictions.
Hey @borkmcgork Thanks for the suggestion, I’m adding this to our list of possible dev items for next release.
hey @patrickr86 I made our tests and found out everything is working as expected, I will wait for more feedback of other users and let you via this thread
please don’t share logs here it contains sensitive information,
under role mappings tab do you see role are being loaded?
if run API action is working that means setup is correct, I will perform my test and let you know.
Hey @patrickr86, once a member connects, it will take some time for them to appear in the server. The API actions get queued, and importantly, the website must have traffic so the API gets called.
One workaround i do suggest it to setup a cron to your website wp-cron.php for every five minutes from hosting control panel, then your API queue wont depend upon website traffic.

In reply to: [ExpressTechSoftwares Addon for MemberPress and Discord] Migrating Questionshey 👋
yes if you keep same data everything should work just fine,
please contact web hosting support to ask them to create a 5 minutes cron to wp-cron.php
Otherwise website should have sufficient traffic so action queue gets fired
hey @gexe thanks for writing to us,
The setup depends on web cron so need visitor on the site to clear action queue, you can setup server cron to cron.php using control panel.
under members listing table you will button “RUN API” this will give immediately
hey, yes won’t break anything, do via FTP
