hi. as I have the same problem as in the thread´s title, I hope it´s ok to post here…

newest WP and NG releases, freshly installed,
my server´s on safe mode, so I created all folders and thumbs tholders manually, as my NextGen plugin told me, they are on the server, set to 777, but still Next Gen ignores them.

I get this:
“The server setting Safe-Mode is on !
If you have problems, please create directory wp-content/gallery/moebelbau and the thumbnails directory wp-content/gallery/xy/thumbs with permission 777 manually
Unable to create directory wp-content/gallery/xy/thumbs !”
but I did ! honestly ! 🙁

I´m so unhappy, I need some damned galleries, really !
I already tried lazyest gallery which at least worked somewhat, but why did that work with the safe mode on and NG doesn´t ?!

any tip is appreciated, and – if I can´t get NG to work – could someone please tell me how to use that built-in gallery with the [gallery] shortcode ? When I click Gallery it always takes me to the NG Gallery page and then problems…to upload images from out of a post doesn´t work, neither flash nor browser upload. can I manually create a folder and ftp-upload images and then use them with the [gallery] ? how must I name the gallery then? or does that only work if I deactivate NextGen ?
