Update: I have compared the WP and Social Login users in the DataBase. I found out that the WP users have lots of user-meta. The Social Login users have only 2-4 (depending on which plugin is used for Social Login). So the problem was not identifying the user, or get the user display name (from Social Login users) But it looks impossible to create a user-meta for users registered via Social Login Plugins. It has something to do with WordPress itself. So I guess there is still something to discover for keyboard jockeys πŸ˜‰ I found another solution for my Question: wordpress.stackexchange.com/a/97079/31765

    thx ashfame,

This works, forums works now. I also went to the buddypress forum, but I looks quit there. Did make several posts about several things….but no answer. Found the same question as I have on the forum, but there has been not one reply since 4 months….

Still having questions about getting buddypress up and running, but looks like no place to go.

    Ok, I did install Buddypress.
Then I used the Forums Setup in the budepress menu and second I activate/install the forum ( by pressing the install bbpress button).

Now WP (dashboard) gives me the note:

A configuration file could not be created. No problem, but you will need to save the text shown below into a file named bb-config.php in the root directory of your WordPress installation before you can start using the forum functionality.

Where can I find this bb-config.php file to add the php code in? I didn’t install WP myself, I sometimes use Filezilla (ftp) to add or replace files….which folder is the root directory? (feel like a real dummy)

Ok, looks like I need to talk to my provider for bbpress first.

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks, I’ve searched on ‘bbress’ already, but still don’t understand how bbpres relates to wp. Do I have to install it like wp on the same server, or else?
Or do I download a folder and upload it with FTP client to a wp folder on the server etc etc.

I have also take a look at the bbpress site, and I could download something, but as a fresh starter without any codec knowledge it would help to understand it a bit more from a helicopter perspective.

    Hi Samboll,

Thanks for the help last topic. I couldn’t remember right, but I think you said this before on another topic (not mine) but I couldn’t find it back.

I’ve read a lot of stuff about bbpress being not stable and deleting the database etc.
And I’ve tried to find out, what and how to integrate bbpress with my blog. As far as I know it is not a plugin (maybe in the future) but a program such as wp. But what where and how can I use it without the risc of a crash?

Thx Samboll I, did install FeedWordpress…..and it looks great and complete…

(ehm…by installing the RSS upgrade files mentioned in step 3 of the installation, they did mean also for the 2.9.1 WP and they mean to instal by replacing them with the files that are already? there in the wp-incude map?)

Just to be sure I did the right thing…

    Hi Samboll,

Do you have experience with this plugin? Half the users claim it’s broken…
