Nice forum plugin!

  • I’m working for several days right now on finding a nice, comfortable, easy forum plugin for my wp site. And then I found it, right under my nose…..

It ‘looks’ like wp is not putting energy in forum options. The bbpress plugin is ‘ on the way’ for months now.

But what about this forum? Is this not a wordpress based website? (I don’t know) I like this good, nice and great forum!

Does anyone know where I can find the right plugin to get such a great forum on my blog?

  • this is BBPress used here

    Hi Samboll,

Thanks for the help last topic. I couldn’t remember right, but I think you said this before on another topic (not mine) but I couldn’t find it back.

I’ve read a lot of stuff about bbpress being not stable and deleting the database etc.
And I’ve tried to find out, what and how to integrate bbpress with my blog. As far as I know it is not a plugin (maybe in the future) but a program such as wp. But what where and how can I use it without the risc of a crash?

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks, I’ve searched on ‘bbress’ already, but still don’t understand how bbpres relates to wp. Do I have to install it like wp on the same server, or else?
Or do I download a folder and upload it with FTP client to a wp folder on the server etc etc.

I have also take a look at the bbpress site, and I could download something, but as a fresh starter without any codec knowledge it would help to understand it a bit more from a helicopter perspective.

bbPress is a standalone forum script which will install just like WordPress along with it. Install bbPress in the same database and get them integrated. 🙂

    Then there’s also BuddyPress.

Ok, looks like I need to talk to my provider for bbpress first.

    Ok, I did install Buddypress.
Then I used the Forums Setup in the budepress menu and second I activate/install the forum ( by pressing the install bbpress button).

Now WP (dashboard) gives me the note:

A configuration file could not be created. No problem, but you will need to save the text shown below into a file named bb-config.php in the root directory of your WordPress installation before you can start using the forum functionality.

Where can I find this bb-config.php file to add the php code in? I didn’t install WP myself, I sometimes use Filezilla (ftp) to add or replace files….which folder is the root directory? (feel like a real dummy)

    Ok, I did install Buddypress.

BuddyPress has a forum where you might ask that question:
    http://buddypress.org/support/topics/

BuddyPress forums is the right place to ask related queries but I will answer here.
Root folder is where you can see your wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes folder

    thx ashfame,

This works, forums works now. I also went to the buddypress forum, but I looks quit there. Did make several posts about several things….but no answer. Found the same question as I have on the forum, but there has been not one reply since 4 months….

Still having questions about getting buddypress up and running, but looks like no place to go.
