Thanks for using Video Background!
This is likely being caused by a 3rd party plugin since you tried the older version and it still is not working.
Did you install any other plugins or try any new themes before you started realizing this issue?

This issue is very odd as it looks like you’ve set up the video background perfectly.
It may be an issue with the encoding of your video. Would you please try and upload and use the video files in the link below to see if they work? This will determine if it’s an issue with the encoding of your video files or not.

I’m going to elaborate a little bit on what’s going on here, just in case someone wonders across the same issue 🙂
Video Background uses the custom fields for each post or page the video background is set on. As a result, video background relies on being able to use the $post ID to find the custom fields information, and to display the video background. When a new WP Query is established, the post ID changes based on the query created. When the Query is not closed using wp_reset_query(), Video Background tries to pull the custom fields data from the post ID of the WP Query, instead of the page or post.
In short, be sure to close your queries with wp_reset_query() 🙂

I’ve tested Video Background on mobile chrome from multiple installs and they all check out and work. Perhaps, there may be something conflicting on your website that is causing the fallback to not appear on mobile Chrome.

Was your site still experiencing issues in Safari 11 when using the default video files? Or is this only with your current video files?

Glad you got the first issue resolved! Yes, you are correct. The CSS for Video Background was moved to a CSS stylesheet instead of being inserted via jQuery.
Could you send screenshots of the issue you are experiencing on mobile Chrome? I am not seeing a grey background. I’m also not seeing a fallback image due to the poster field being empty.

I’ve taken a closer look at your site and have found what I believe to be the issue. It appears that your hosting provider does not allow .mp4 playback from the URL. You may want to have a talk with your host about this.
You can determine this by viewing the .mp4 and .webm in the browser. The .webm will play just fine, but the .mp4 will not. Take a look for yourself:

Could you provide a URL and some screenshots as well?
Additionally, please make sure you are on Video Background v2.6.x as there was a compatibility issue in Safari High Sierra when on versions behind 2.6.

I just tested Video Background on Internet Explorer 11 and it works just fine. Please make sure you do not have any issues in your console that are causing the video to not play. Additionally, make sure you have your .mp4, .webm, and fallback image set.
