In reply to: No option to upgrade to 4.0Oh well. Waiting 24 hours did nothing. Too hopeful the upgrade link would just appear.
Still wondering what causes this… but guess I need to undertake a manual upgrade right?
I need this facility too. But if you read the documentation accompanying release 2.3 it does say the facility has only been added to the widget. I can see why, as a widget may appear on any old page. But I have a need to effect this for the shortcode, but it’s unavailable. Will try to hack.

Just thinking about any differences between this one and the others, and the only thing I can think of is that this is the only one with integrating Buddypress.

In reply to: [Decode] NOT mobile first… or fully responsiveNever ever any problems viewing my decode themed sites on iOS or Android. In fact, I get some good feedback from people who enjoy using the sites on mobile.
Thanks Scott.

In reply to: [wp Time Machine] No sign of the bucketTurns out I had the wrong secret key.
Still, odd that I should be told everything was successful.

In reply to: [Q and A FAQ and Knowledge Base for WordPress] Link to an faqAh yes, I can link to an FAQ on its own page. Apologies, I should have been clearer. I’d like to link to an specific question on the FAQ page (ie, as if it had been clicked on the FAQ page itself).
So, for example, having a link in the answer to Q2 that then closes that answer and opens, say, the answer to Q7. As if I’d just clicked on Q7 directly.
I added the faq class in the HTML, and while that closes the current answer, it doesn’t open the new one.

In reply to: [Google Authenticator] Setting up WordPress for Android appUnfortunately no. It appears, from what I can determine, that two-factor authentication is incompatible with WordPress smartphone apps.
I consider the former the more important of the two, so now live without the apps. 🙁

Just upgraded to 4.2.1 without problem. All good. Thank you most kindly sir.

In reply to: [Advanced Excerpt] 4.2 has broken my homepageIf your theme doesn’t fall back gracefully to the normal excerpt thingummy then it may well be that nothing gets displayed and you get the behavior you’re seeing.
Doing the steps I explained above should fix things though. Confident of that.

In reply to: [Advanced Excerpt] 4.2 has broken my homepageYou should have no problem with layout. This plugin doesn’t impact layout, only the length and styling of excerpts.
Deactive the plugin
Delete all the files at /plugins/advanced-excerpt
Download and unzip 4.1.1
Move these files to the directory above
Reactivate the pluginIt should now say it’s version 4.1.1 and your site should work properly again. If you have an auto-updater plugin, you might want to disable that until things are fixed here.

In reply to: [Google Authenticator] Setting up WordPress for Android appI met two people at a conference on Saturday who have the same problem as me, as documented here. We were hoping to find someone else at the conference who’d cracked it, but no-one came foreword. Frustrating.
