In reply to: Appearance- iPad?Hi Lisa King,
You should always provide a link to your website to enable the community here to help as best as it can.
And generally, it’s always advised to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress as and when a new version emerges.

In reply to: Windows users getting a nasty surprise at my blogRight then. Sucuri got to me eventually, and tell me they’ve cleaned out the malware.
Hopefully no-one gets that warning in Windows now!
Thanks all for your help.

In reply to: Windows users getting a nasty surprise at my blogHi. My problems are getting worse. Another WordPress instance on the same hosting account has also been hit.
I had a brief email exchange with http://sucuri.net last night who seem to have just the service I need, but they’re totally silent today. Can’t get a peep out of them. Maybe they’re just stacked.
Does anyone know of a similar service to Sucuri?
Tx.

In reply to: Windows users getting a nasty surprise at my blogThanks esmi.
Just for the record here, this is what I’ve done so far.
* Change FTP passwords and delete unneeded accounts – DONE
* Change your secret keys – DONE
* Take a backup of what you have – DONE
* ADMIN over SSL – NOT SURE? One to ask hosts about.
* Used Bullet Proof Security to create secure .htaccess for root and for wp-admin folder, and to deny access to BPS Master and BPS Backup
* Checked active_plugins record for PHP code disguised as jpeg file – NoneAnd I’ve just noticed that my long blogroll has been cut down to just six links. All are correctly hyperlinked.

In reply to: Windows users getting a nasty surprise at my blogI think that this might be beyond my skillset, or time. Does anyone out there fix these things; sort of gun for hire?

That doesn’t look cool. Wonder how this happened and whether the other blogs on my site are OK? Wonder what I have to do now? 🙁

In reply to: Cannot save cropped image in edit mediaHi DRO1D5,
Yes, I did try your 3-step process, but to no avail. Clicking the crop-icon has no effect whatsoever.
🙁
Cheers, Philip.

In reply to: Is my site too complex for WordPress? All of these can be accommodated by a competent WordPress developer to my knowledge except for the first. There’s not the granularity of author permissions to my knowledge, but then I consider myself to be ‘keen’ rather than ‘expert’. Perhaps there’s a plugin out there to enable this?

In reply to: What's the point of RSS?There is no way to pull email addresses from Feedburner, because Feedburner wouldn’t know this information anyway.
If you’ve attracted RSS subscribers, well done! 🙂 Why not offer them something they might like, such as a how-to-guide or Word template for something in your line of business. You can capture their email address using a form from a specialist like Vertical Response, and ensure then that you are staying the right side of the law when it comes to data protection and spamming etc.
Basically, you’re in a process marketers refer to as AIDA: attention, interest, desire, action. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIDA_%28marketing%29). Well done on getting their attention, now you need to spark interest and desire, and then they’ll willingly share their contact information with you.
Good luck!

In reply to: Add a website and blog togetherI think you’re asking for a blog set-up with multiple authors. ie, people who can author blog posts rather than just comment on your blog posts.
With three authors, tom, dick and harry, you’d then have these three in your primary navigation, and clicking “harry” takes you to harry’s posts.
I recommend making use of the WordPress Menus feature (available since WordPress 3.0). You can then create a menu that has options to list posts based on search criteria; so the menu item for “harry” would basically serve a page of posts based on searching for posts authored by harry.

In reply to: Break up CommentsWords usually wrap at a space, but your test comments don’t have any. Try copying and pasting in some normal text instead.
And remember to set your permalinks:
