In reply to: Ads on premium WP themesNot sure which themes you are looking at, but you should have no problem inserting ads in a real premium theme. A lot of the best premium themes have inbuilt options for ads, custom ad widgets etc. You could use a plugin for ads if you wish.
Also one of the advantages of buying from a reputable premium theme developer is the included support to help you with basic customizations, css, inserting your ads etc.

In reply to: New Website…Suggestions or Ideas? For a start removing the adsense ads would make it look more professional, plus that square adsense block in the middle messes up your whole site – see what happens when you adjust the width or your browser.
There are also plenty of stylish business / cms style theme around if you want a more modern professional look.

In reply to: Posting Blog Pages To Front Page Of SiteOK, looks like you’re using a custom built theme. So yes it’s defiantly possible to include some blog post entries to show up on the homepage with some more customization of your theme template files.
Being a custom theme, and the amount of work required, it’s more than what we can help with here so I suggest you contact the designer who created your theme do that.

In reply to: Make theme look betterGenerally the look and design are aspects of the theme. Depending on the theme it many also include extra functions beyond just the design.
You can customize the themes files to achieve pretty much any look or design you like. It just depends on your skill level.
There maybe some plugins available to help control certain design elements, but typically the looks and design are features of the theme. While plugins are for functionality.

In reply to: Suggestions for improving visual presentationLook at improving the typography as everything is the same size and font. Maybe make the titles bigger and different font, text formatting around images, make meta data and tag text smaller or only showing on actual post, possibly remove hyperlink underlining etc.

In reply to: wootheme (buro woocommerce) or elegant theme (estore)? There are really two things you need to consider with ecommerce WordPress themes: the theme design, and the ecommerce functionality.
You really need to decide which ecommerce plugin meets your needs best, and that will direct you to which theme to use.

In reply to: Changing the set word header to a logoLooks like you are using The Morning After theme. There is an option to upload a custom logo in theme options (Theme Options > General Settings > Custom Logo). You also then need to deselect the “Text Title” option.

In reply to: Any good video tutorials for wordpress themes? You could try here: http://wordpress.tv/category/how-to/themes/
However video isn’t really the best method for explaining theme development and coding, so that’s probably why there isn’t a lot around. Text is still the best medium.
There are some books about theme development, but your best resource for understanding WordPress is probably the WordPress codex and its links to other supplementary resources.
