In reply to: [Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator] 404Hi,
I’m sure to understand the issue. Who sent you these emails? (the plugin doesn’t send emails). What are the faulty URLs? (eg.
http://example.com/favicon.ico).Forum: Reviews

In reply to: [Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator] Re-saving permalinks deletes htaccess codeHi Emma,
I’m sorry you observe this behavior with the plugin.
The plugin use the regular WordPress Rewrite API. So it is expected to do it “the right way”. This said, maybe I did something wrong and
.htaccessis not modified as it should. I’m going to investigate this. The routes added by RFG in
.htaccessare optional. Actually, they sometimes fail for some reasons (most of the time: modification of this file is prevented by hosting providers and security plugins). Having them is a plus, for example they save you from a few 404 errors in your logs when browsers try to load/favicon.icoeven if it is declared to be elsewhere. But there are no serious impact: your favicon will just work everywhere because everything is declared in the HTML code as it should.Cheers,

In reply to: [Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator] Favicon 1.3.5 HTML CodeHi Doug,
Yes, I think the installation is completed.
Everything related to HTML is handled automatically by the plugin. The HTML code is never shown to you. You don’t have to copy/paste it or even to look at it. If you ever used RealFaviconGenerator.net (the web site, not the plugin), they you were presented the HTML code to insert manually in your pages. Maybe this is what is misleading here.
If your site is live and accessible from the outside (and not hidden in a way or another because the site is still under development) you can make sure it works :
- In Appearance > Favicon, click the “Check your favicon” button.
- Give me the URL of your site (paste the URL here or send it to me at contact@realfavicongenerator.net) to I can do a quick review.
