In reply to: [Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator] that was easyYup, this is one of the benefit of the plugin: as everything is generated elsewhere, you don’t need anything special, just a classic WP setup.
Thank you for your review!

In reply to: [Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator] Forbidden error for json fileHi Tony,
I’m sorry you’re facing this issue.
Which JSON file are we talking about?
manifest.json? This is the Web App Manifest. As of today, only Android Chrome is using it. True: the official extension for this file is.webmanifest(not.json) and its MIME type isapplication/manifest+json. But unless your Web server already supports this, the.jsonextension is quite legit. It’s the one documented by Google for Android Chrome. But that doesn’t fix your problem 🙂
Do you know why your Web server is raising this 403? Who/what did create this rule? What makes you think changing the location of the files might help? After all, you could well have a WP security plugin of some kind that thinks that all JSON files are bad and should be blocked.
Thank you Pothi for your comment! I’m glad the new “light package” formula is appreciated.

Hi,
I’m sorry the service doesn’t meet your expectations.
And now is when I defend my baby 🙂 : you can’t expect to create your favicon properly with only *one* click. Most of the time the icon need to be slightly adapted for each platform (eg. making sure the icon for iOS Safari is not transparent). So actually you can create a compelling favicon with *a few* clicks. This is what the service offers. And yes, there are a lot of options. But they are only options, really. You can simply use the prominent checkboxes to visually edit your icons until they look good and ignore the rest.
This said, I understand you wanted something lighter.

In reply to: [Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator] 404I’m sorry there’s something wrong with the plugin. If it was really faulty, deactivating it was the right choice.
I must admit I don’t really understand what happens. Do you know which addresses are causing the 404? Normally you should get messages such as “The URL
http://example.com/favicon.icois not accessible”, so you know what’s wrong. I also don’t understand the procedure (“the favicon is the icon we download from my website to my fav bar”): what did you do exactly? If your site is online, could you give me its address to I can do a quick review of your code?
