I have the same problem. I get the error message “You need at least PHP 5.3 or higher to use Encyclopedia. You are using PHP 5.2.17. Please ask your hoster for an upgrade.”
But my version of PHP is 5.3.29 (not 5.2). I should not get this message.
No I’m not using a Child Theme. However I am using WPML. The issue seems to be with only the second language. I know it probably wasn’t tested with WPML, but it was working find before the upgrade to 1.0.4 but I’m wondering what could be the difference and if there’s something I can do to fix it.
Also, the widgets do not show on the page.

I added several new entries after the update bu tthey do not show on the front knowledgebase page. The pages do exit however.
