I had been told before by someone (not here) to place this code in the wp-config file:
‘define(‘ALTERNATE_WP_CRON’, true);’I was not told where in the file to place the code, and it turns out I had it in the wrong place.
I just read on the WordPress forum about problems with scheduling future posts, a recommendation again to use this code, but it said to place it just above to the comment saying
‘That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging.’
Once I did that, bingo. Future posts worked and the backup process began immediately and automatically. Thank heavens. I’ve been trying to figure this problem out for weeks!

I’m having the same problem Anthony describes in this post. I followed the directions on the link:

which pointed to the wp-cron not working.
I contacted my host, FatCow, who says there are no issues on their end. I don’t *think* I’m able to set up a manual cron on the server, as was Anthony’s solution. Also, though I’ve repeatedly told my host that I can’t make a post in the future and it seems like the cron isn’t working, they insist it’s working fine and that the problem is with the plugin. Incidentally, I did try a different plugin back-up service, and it seemed to have the same problem, (also wouldn’t run a scheduled or manual backup) and they, too, after looking at some debugging and error reporting, said it was a scheduling problem and pointed me towards the host for resolution. In turn, the host has repeatedly said they’ve looked into it and the problem isn’t happening on their end.
Can you tell me what I can do next? I’m very puzzled, …and very nervous about this site not being backed up.
