In reply to: How to Insert White Space between paragraphs in Post?It’s not fixed. I can’t believe 2.9 appeared without a fix for this. I’m using Safari on Mac – every other browser is far too slow and anyway it doesn’t work for me in Firefox either and IE doesn’t exist on Mac – and all my html line breaks are stripped out. Bloggers really need to be able to insert the occasional line breaks in the visual editor – I hardly need to point out that white space is key in visual media. Modifying the CSS is no solution, because I don’t want to pad every single paragraph – I just want to be able to insert 5 line breaks on occasion, if I feel I need a big chunk of white space for visual effect (as I very often wish to do ). I’m so disappointed.
I have had to produce a thin white bar in Photoshop and upload it to Flickr and then embed as many versions of it as it takes. This is just a crazy workaround:

I believe it may have happened when I upgraded my WP? Nothing else changed.

I’ve upgraded to 2.8 and this seemed to happen on that day – a day when I also edited all my Users. So it’s hard to tell what did it. I’ve read every single WP and non-WP forum/discussion on this topic, and no one has a fix, even though this seems to have been going on for years after subsequent WP upgrades.
Anyone?

In reply to: No email notification of comment pendingI’m having this problem too, even since upgrading to 2.8 and migrating my blog to a new host. Not sure which action produced this problem as the two things happened on the same day. Before the move/upgrade I received email notification consistently; since the move, not one email from WordPress. Any ideas? I’ve heard there’s a conflict between WP and gmail, but my comment notification emails are set to be sent to my domain email first, then sent on to gmail, so I don’t think that can be the problem. I see there’s a big discussion of this problem here, back in April:

But I’m not sure that’s relevant to my problem.

In reply to: I hate the way 2.6 handles images!Similiar problems in Visual Editor – not only would I love to get rid of the caption mode (who uses those, in graphic design? In any case, we don’t think they look good) but now the ability to just move images around using the cursor and the return key is mostly gone. The code gets screwed up, images suddenly are no longer centered, text ends up in centered caption mode since the formatting is still there even if you disable captions. And images upload variously as linked or unlinked to the uploads folder, seemingly randomly despite using the Add Image button in an identical manner. I’m pining for 2.5. Everything is so unwieldy now and takes so much longer. I’m sure this added functionality to someone, but I’ve been struggling with this for two weeks and have absolutely lost ease of use.
