Hi Cara,
There are various reasons why certain sites drop or rank in the search results. Google uses over 200 different factors to determine a page rank, many of which such as site speed, server configuration, caching, authority, are beyond the control of the plugin. With the Yoast SEO Premium plugin, you can optimize your site as well as your posts/pages for content SEO and it comes with six additional features that are not included in the free plugin:
The Redirect Manager: Which allows you to create and manage redirects from within your WordPress install (SEO > Redirects), allowing you to easily redirect old URLs to new ones, and solve common issues. More information about this feature here: https://yoast.com/wp-seo-premium-redirect-manager/.
Ability to define Multiple Focus Keywords per post: Which allows you to optimize a post for two (or more) completely different terms, or for two synonyms. This means you no longer have to choose between terms you’d like to rank for. More information about this feature here: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo-premium/multiple-focus-keywords/.
Social Previews: This allows you to check how your image and description appear before you send it. You can learn more about the feature here: https://yoast.com/social-previews-yoast-seo-premium/.
Insights: This feature shows you the words or word combinations that appear most often in your text. These common words can then be used for keyword research or to help you perform your keyword strategy: https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-3-7-meet-insights/.
Internal Linking: Yoast SEO Premium looks for the most common words in your post, analyzes these and presents related posts from your site that use the same words. This way you can add links to relevant articles on the fly: https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-4-0/
Premium support: Yoast SEO Premium gives you access to our support team. You can email us your questions about usage of the plugin or your problems in setting it up and we’ll assist you!
You may need to enable advanced settings first. Please refer to this kb article: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/remove-advanced-yoast-seo-settings/
Are you using some kind of a visual page builder? We currently have a bug report open with our development team regarding eye markers in the readability analysis not working. If you would like to follow the progress of the report, you can do that here: https://github.com/Yoast/YoastSEO.js/issues/1315
Hi Simone,
There’s no option in the Yoast SEO plugin to remove prices from being indexed by search engines. This can be caused by a conflict with your other plugins or with your theme. Can you please try deactivating all of your plugins except the Yoast plugins and switch to a default theme like Twenty Seventeen? If the problem goes away, activate your plugins one at a time and check if the issue comes back for every plugin activated. Finally, after all plugins are active, switch to your theme and see if the problem recurs. This will narrow down the conflict to a specific plugin or your theme.
Hi Chris,
The focus keyword not in first paragraph warning is often thrown out if there is an HTML element, code, image, or whitespace around the keyword which is affecting Yoast’s ability to scan for it. If you switch to classical or code view, is there anything above the first paragraph? If there is, you need to include the focus keyword there as that will be treated by the plugin as the first paragraph. This issue typically occurs when the plugin update couldn’t finish properly. Our usual suggestion is to manually update the plugin by uploading the plugin files via FTP but since you’ve already fixed it then there’s nothing else you need to do.
If you think you found a bug, you can file a bug report for the Yoast SEO plugin in this GitHub repository: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo.
WP Rollback is a different plugin. I’m assuming you can use this to rollback Yoast SEO and your other plugins. If it doesn’t work, you need to get in touch with them for assistance.
Hello,
Please resubmit your sitemap to Google Search Console to force-update your sitemap information. You may refer to this kb article. You only need to submit your sitemap index as Google will automatically parse the individual sitemaps.Hello,
You can only use the variables under each tab in SEO → Titles & Metas. If you want to set a custom template for your attachments, you can do so under the “Post Types” tab > Media (attachments). Is this where you entered the variables? Did you also check the source code of the affected URL if the meta description is right? The links counter is expected to count all links that are inside your post edit area. You’re free to change whatever you want in the plugin but unfortunately, we’re unable to provide support for that. Since we don’t want to take the risk that we break your website by suggesting an incorrect or incomplete code, we cannot advise you on how to make such change.
This can be caused by a conflict with your other plugins or with your theme. Can you please run a conflict check? You may refer to this kb article: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/.
The sitemap generated by Yoast SEO is under sitemap_index.xml. If you have a sitemap under sitemap.xml, that’s from another plugin.
If you want to remove a certain post/page from the Yoast sitemap, please refer to this kb article: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/sitemap-shows-excluded-posts-pages/.
Hello,
What version of WordPress and Yoast SEO are you running? Can you please make sure they’re up-to-date? The most recent version of WordPress is v4.9.1 and Yoast SEO (free) is v6.1.1.If it’s still the same, I need you to run a conflict check again by deactivating all of your plugins except the Yoast plugins and switch to a default theme like Twenty Seventeen.
