In reply to: template edit problemsIt looks to me like sections of your code may be missing. Did you make a backup of the template files before you started editing? It’s possible that an extra div or a closing tag was accidentally removed.
If you have a backup of the original, you may need to put that back in place and take out small portions bit by bit until you get it looking the way you want.

In reply to: Category visibility parent & child categoriesI don’t think so. If memory serves me (and I’m still looking for a confirmation), unless you have a category-specific template (such as category-1.php) other categories would use the default template.
There’s more info on the Codex.

In reply to: Turning Off All EditorsUnless you are using a 3rd party application to post to your WordPress installation, you would need one of the editors in order to post. The plain text editor is where you would do your “nitty gritty” HTML editing.

In reply to: pages appear blank until I hit reloadI haven’t seen anything obvious jumping out at me, but I did see a few CSS errors in my Firefox console.
What plugins are you using? And did the problem exist before or after they were installed?

You’ll need to edit your theme’s comments.php file.

In reply to: Putting hotspots on background header image in default kubrick modeIt sounds like you need a map for that image. That’s an HTML issue, not necessarily WordPress.

In reply to: wp-adminI ran into a similar issue a while back when Technorati was having site troubles. (the feeds wouldn’t load so my Dashboard would take FOREVER to load)
Try going directly to one of the other tabs:
YOUR_BLOG_URL/wp-admin/post.php – the Write menu
YOUR_BLOG_URL/wp-admin/edit.php – Manage
YOUR_BLOG_URL/wp-admin/options-general.php – Optionsetc. 🙂

In reply to: WP-Flickr plugin: legal matterWhat does their website say about it? I would assume they have a usage/acceptance policy for using their streams.
