In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Technical Explanation of Cache FolderOne last question : Looks like I don’t have the permissions to delete the /cache/ folder. This doesn’t seem to make much sense because I only use one user to set up the site. Logged in as the same user I ought to be able to have permissions to change it no?

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Technical Explanation of Cache FolderHere is something interesting:
This is a screenshot of the folder for a particular article that is constantly 404ing. What is all that junk in there? I can’t find that stuff in most of the other folders.
Assume this could be an indicator of a problem no?

In reply to: The "Missed Schedule" Problem…Anyone know what would provoke this to just start happening? It’s still going on almost one post per night for the last week – totally randome because the other 7-8 posts go through fine, all scheduled for about the same time in the early morning.
hm…. i don’t think this is my problem. i only get a few 404s, randomly. Then I clear the cache and everything is fine. Then a few hours later, some random 404s come back.
I’d be eager to hear what the plugin guys say!
That’s interesting…
Has anyone responded to you? I’m not experienced to start tinkering with this, especially since my 404 problem is not on all pages, only a few random pages once in a while.
Coincidentally (?) I am also experiencing a rash of “missed schedule” posts which leads me to believe this may have something do with server settings than the plugin itself.

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] Random 404This problem has come back for me too… has been plaguing the site for a little over a week and I’ve tried almost every permutation I can think of to get to the bottom of it.
What’s really odd is that the plugin worked great for over a year, then one day just started throwing random 404s… seems most commonly on recently published posts.
Absolutely no idea what’s causing it… and very hard to test because it can be hours after any change that the 404s start popping up again.

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] The "Random 404" Problem is back…ok, i’m at my wits end here.
Still getting random 404s for the last week after more than a year of having this plugin work fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin, messed with permissions as above, cleared the rules, turned on and off various components of the plugins..
Is there any sort of list of of common reasons for this problem? Any sort of reasonable process of elimination I can use?

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] The "Random 404" Problem is back…Well that was quick… I guess the 777 thing actually does nothing. The problem is back.

In reply to: [Plugin: Optincrusher] Opt-in Tool Not Displaying CorrectlyI’m just playing with this plugin for the first time, but my guess is that’s not really being caused by the plugin, but whatever you’re using to create the popup. YOu’ll have to get into the HTML to fix it…

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Calendar View 404's outThanks Rob. Looks like we’re good. It was a conflict with another plugin. Looking forward to getting this going.

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Calendar View 404's outRob, thanks a ton! I’m not sure, I’m working with someone and he’s still tinkering with it so I’m not sure where things stand. I’m forwarding all of these over to him… hope to hear soon.

In reply to: Preventing Contributors from Editing Sched Posts? So… incidentally, someone I work with has just written a plugin to solve this problem:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/restrict-contributors-from-scheduled-posts/
Seems to work!

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Calendar View 404's outOne more theory… Before playing with “The Events Calendar” I installed All-in-One calendar: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/
But I found it way to inflexible for what I needed. So I deleted it.
So… any chance that the earlier installation screwed something up in the database that the uninstall didn’t clear it?
Cool, thanks. Well, really I’m still trying to diagnose what’s missing in my installation. Even when I’m on Twenty 11 theme I sill don’t see any additional stuff, just a page that looks more or less like a blog post for every event.
Hmm… possibly. Really, I just want to get the “excerpt” working. Right now there doesn’t seem to be way to control what the excerpt of an event is. Is there?
