In reply to: WordPress won't update anything via browserYeah… I figured something was up.
Check this screenshot out:

In reply to: WordPress won't update anything via browserTotally bizarre….
So I got this from the network guys….
******
If WordPress is attempting to use PHP’s ftp_connect() function, that won’t
work with our default build of PHP. The ftp_connect() function is not part
of our default build of PHP. You would need to compile your own custom
copy of PHP in order to use that function. You are free to do that if you
want, but we cannot directly help with compiling custom software. You may prefer to instruct WordPress to write to your files directory
(without using FTP). Since you’ve already set world-writable permissions
Wordpress should already be able to write to your files directly through
the web server (instead of through FTP).
****So…. I guest the first question is – what is this FTP stuff? How is it possible to tell wordpress to do things via FTP vs something else?
I just noticed this as well … but…. why should this ever happen? Once the plugin is installed, doesn’t *everything* go through Disqus? I’m worried now that things are happening in two places … should i be?
Cool, thanks! FYI.. the automatic updater in WP still says “this plugin has not been tested with your version of wordpress, yadda yadda….” don’t know if that really matters.
Thinking about installing for the first time. Any reason to wait until this is fully tested with WP 3.3?
Interesting… I didn’t check to see which one it was. Now SU is working okay. I wonder if the plugin could be biult in a way (iframe, perhaps) that would let the page load even if one of the buttons was skunked?

In reply to: Category/Tag Specific Ad Serving?Cool … well it’s google doubleclick. So I was thinking I’d just make a bunch of different sets of ad-code and name them all different categories, then I’d add the conditional stuff in wordpress to show the appropriate ad-code if a certain tag was present.
I’ll bet there’s an easier way though… anyone have experience with doubleclick in this regard?

In reply to: Category/Tag Specific Ad Serving?Does this question make any sense?

In reply to: "Missed Schedule"Concievable … but is that a standard thing? ie, if the site is down over the scheduled period then posts that were scheduled just don’t get published? Like, wordpress doesn’t realise… “hey, this is published in the past, better make it live now!”

In reply to: Gallery SettingsSecond – is there a way to have smart URLs for the attachement pages? Right now I get ?attachement=123 .. would be much better to have image title or something

In reply to: Bizarre Twitter ProblemRight…. so evidently this didn’t resonate. I’ve tried a few other plugins and still no luck.
Does anyone have a clue how these plugins “read” the situation on twitter? I’m certain there is something more deeply wrong with the site, but no clue how to go about diagnosing it…
Anyone else seen this happen?
Hey that looks very good. I’m a little scared to tinker at that level … any idea if the guys who wrote this pay attention to this forum? Seems like a common sense change to the plugin!

In reply to: Weird Refresh thingThanks… yeah multiple computers.
Interesting. I’ve been messing with it for about an hour. Maybe I somehow fixed it! No clue what was causing it… gonna check out firebug anyhow, thanks!

In reply to: Embed Bug?Thanks…. I guess I can live with a plugin if one plugin can do ’em all. Testing now…
