Okay – does not seem to be browser specific. I’ve testing in Safari and FF. Also many people have written me to complain about it from all sorts of browsers.
I never get to the point of allowing authentication. If I log into facebook manually and come back I still get the error.
The error is non-specific. It just says “An error occurred. Please try again later.”
What do you mean by “profiles merged with Disqus account”? The facebook profiles? I don’t think so – I created a fake facebook profile that has never been used before to test this and I still get the same problems.

So… does this make any sense? Shouldn’t SEO pack put the same kind of meta description on Tag pages as it does on Category pages? Could something be wrong?

In reply to: Tag Pages Have no Meta Desc…Good question… there is a header.php but I can’t see the meta tags in there… maybe it’s buried somewhere else, what’s a good place to look? I have an SEO plugin, but it gives me no options for tag pages…weird.. any way to over-ride this kind of thing?

I’m pretty sure they don’t understand what I’m asking because this seems like such a normal thing for wordpress to do and I know 1000s of people are on Pair.com with wordpress … never heard this complaint before. Anyone else?

So…. that ! just means “not front page” right?
There is still a load of other stuff on the page that’s wrong. Basically, since I have to create a “page”, the supposed new front page just takes the title and content from my fake page and completely ignores all the posts on the blog, like a front page is supposed to do.
Why would that be?

But there are lots of other problems, and most importantly, if i decide I like this new layout it’ll be a nightmare to re-do all those conditions.
Surely there’s an easier way to test out different front page layouts without tinkering with the live front page, no?
Isn’t there just simple way to “clone” it without creating “pages” or junk like that?

This is the first one that has had weird problems with it.
I have asked the host and given that they offer hosted wordpress (pair.com) I can’t believe they don’t “allow” it. …. the guy emailed me that mumbo jumbo I copied above, but I don’t understand it well enough to know what’s up…

In reply to: WordPress won't update anything via browserNope, not custom. I installed it myself. I get the same thing on my other host – but it works without issue.
I really don’t know enough about Apache to understand what a “user is…. all I know if that wordpress runs as “nobody” …but since I chmoded 777 most of the non-critical folders I don’t understand why this is skunking out.
Also, since I enter my own root username when it asks for FTP credentials… why would it still skunk?
