In reply to: Error messages after updating to WP 3.8.1Pioneer,
The update completed. The warning messages now appear on the website and when I try to log in as admin I get an error message saying “cookies” aren’t turned on (which is not the case). I can’t get signed on… I also attempted to reload my back-up database on Go Daddy, but it didn’t fix anything.Any thoughts on how to solve this?

In reply to: Aaarrgh! Fatal error after BP plugin updateThanks, everyone. I logged into my FTP, nuked the Buddy Press and restored the old version. I have no idea why the update won’t function because I’ve never had a problem with older versions.
Any thoughts.
Forum: Localhost Installs
In reply to: Local install – admin pages not workingI have the same problem. Updated to BP 1.6 and now I only get the following message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bp_get_displayed_user_username() in /home/content/n/a/p/napes1/html/wp-content/themes/bp-fun/bp-functions.php on line 17

In reply to: Comments not appearingemsi, I managed to repair wp_comments file on my database, so comments are working again. Not sure what caused it to crash, though. Thanks for your help.
As “Theme Diva”, maybe you can help me understand why my widgets aren’t functional on my home page. It continues to show the oldest post, not the newest and featured articles only show a title with no link to the article itself. Too, in my column 2 it shows an article that I didn’t include in the widgets (Michigan Wines) and it has a hot link to the document!
I’ve included all pertinent category ID’s and the Titles as they appear on the articles, but it won’t point to the article from the home page. Am I missing something?

In reply to: Comments not appearingemsi, I’ve discovered a problem with the wp_comments file in the database. When I tried to create a back-up, I get “error 144 wp_comments marked as crashed and last (automatic) repair failed when using lock tables”. The file shows up in the database table, but I can’t browse or view the file content. All other files are accessible.
This explains why the comments don’t appear on the web site any longer, but now I’m left wondering what caused the “crash” and how to replace or repair it. Any suggestions?

In reply to: Comments not appearingesmi, I’m still nowhere.
I’ve added memory_limit = 64M to my php.ini file. I’ve uploaded a fresh wp_admin and wp_includes to the host manager. I’ve deactivated plugins.
I must say that I am completely frustrated! Any more thoughts?

In reply to: Comments not appearingOK, where in the ini file should the line be added? (I’m not a coder). Is replacing the wp-admin and wp-includes folders as simple as copy and paste?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Comments not appearingesmi, I accessed the php.ini file on the host and found no reference to to “memory_limit =” Is this a line that must be added? I’ve also downloaded a “fresh” copy of WP 3.1.1, but have no idea how to replace the existing files on the host, or whether this would do any more than running a new automatic update. Plug ins are ALL deactivated. Is there a memory cache that must be emptied?
Thanks for your patience and advice.

In reply to: Comments not appearingesmi, thanks for trying. I’ve deactivated all plugins; no luck. I’ve switched Themes from Buddy Press 1.3.3 to Twenty Ten; no luck. I’ve tried reloading WP 3.1.1; no luck. I’m not sure how to access PhpMyAdmin so I can’t reset plugins by that route.
I’ve tried posting a comment while logged on as Admin and anonymously and still no luck. I get an email notification to moderate with all the data missing and “0” comments on the dashboard. I’ve switched back to BP 1.3.3 but left the plugins off.
The site is hosted by GoDaddy. Wouldn’t they provide adequate PHP memory? Where would I find wp-admin and wp-includes folders?

In reply to: Comments not appearingHELP! Notifications showing no author, no e-mail, no URL, no comment, no nothing! I’m getting similar notifications for every category, article and post for the site. The dashboard shows “0” comments, spam and trash. Some comments survive on the site, but only for current members and only in the “activity.”
I’ve seen other posts with the same issue with no resolution. Has anyone successfully fixed this problem? Here’s a sample notification:
