I have already made a small custom workaround for this and my “multilang” CataBlog is doing the job, but this is not the right way it should be handled 😛 If you want we can get some talk and mabey I can help you a bit with implementation of this feature.

My small proposition.
– ability to add custom database fields for each product
– manage their content from admin backend as for other fields (description, price etc)
– ability to display only selected fields for each product in list and lighbox preview, configurable in display templates ?
