  • Hi, I’m Martin the developer of the AdSense Manager plugin. Just to let you know I’m now back with internet access (after 3 months connecting via mobile phone, don’t do it) so I’m going to be working on fixing up the bugs here.

    Just upgrading my local install to the latest version of WordPress and I’ll see where we go from there.

    If you have any more feedback/fixes/etc. that you’ve uncovered please let me know – likewise if you have any feature suggestions while I’m at it!

    Thanks,

    Martin

    dbcooper: The Be Nice thing is back in a slightly different form (which has been checked with Google to not be violation of T&Cs). Of course feel free to turn it off – I need to revert back to the more informative UI but can’t get SVN access at the moment (accessing the net via mobile phone, ugh).

    To wrap a 250×250 left put DIVs in the “Before HTML” and “After HTML” to wrap the ad unit in them, then float the DIVs themselves. For example…

    <div style="float:left;">

    …then…

    </div>

    Should do it!

    Are the impressions showing up in the main results just not under channels?

    If you have no results listed at all then you need to check your Google ID under Options>Adsense Manager to make sure it’s correct. There is a link there to get it from your AdSense account.

    If impressions are registering just not for the correct channel you need to make sure that the channel number is in the setup for that ad. Check the instructions here.

    silverblood: Thanks for this, I’ve update the plugin with your fix & credited you in the source.

    trumad: Sorry there isn’t at present – I’ll have a look into it and see if I can get that working for you. Keep you posted.

    mreda: You no longer need to make sure I don’t get your money: the original Be Nice share was removed from around version 2.3.

    The latest version experiments with showing Alternate Ads to support development (plugin’s don’t write themselves you know) but you can switch that off from Options/Ads. Hope that makes sense!

    From October I’m heading back to University at the age of 27 to start a medical research degree. If I’m going to spend time on developing it’ll need to pay for itself (at least) or I’m off for a bar job @ £7 an hour!

    Tracking is done on the Google AdSense site using channels: AdSense Manager just outputs the ads for you, it doesn’t have access to what happens next.

    Set up your channels first through the AdSense site and then copy the Channel number into the field for that under Manage/Ads. That should do the trick for you! Let me know if you need any more help.

    As I understand it it’s the show_ad.js code that actually generates the advert – if you only include it once you’ll only get one ad.

    Or am I missing something? Thanks!

    It will be coming shortly. I’m currently without net access from home myself (other than via mobile phone) so can’t develop it at present. From October I’ll be back online and will have a look at the new scheme & bring AdSense Manager up to date!

    Thanks for the heads up by the way.

    Just to clarify, I actually received a message from Google stating that AdSense Manager was fine to use (see comment towards bottom also). The original ban was due to the Be Nice feature which was later removed.

    Development has stalled for the time being because I do not have net access at my current address (other than via a mobile phone). From October I will be back online & plan to get to work again!

    Thanks for all the support folks.

    That’s an interesting idea nICEsHARE I’ll see if I can get that working when I start on the plugin again. Currently don’t have net access available from home which makes developing a little difficult!

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Thanks for the heads-up folks – I had updated the readme.txt in the download, but forgotten to copy it into the released tag on svn. That meant it wasn’t being picked up by the Extend system. I’ve fixed that now…. Apologies for the delay, but I’m access the net down a mobile phone at the moment. Not. Too. Fast. Hah.

    tlawrence17: Use the channel number from inside the code – it’s a bit annoying having to do that but unfortunately there’s no other way. Remember, if you want to “load in” an entire Ad generated by AdSense you can do that (and it’ll find the channel id, etc. itself).

    Thanks as always for the support!

    It was quite a suprise and not something I had gone looking for (but very welcome!) Given their stated policy of not discussing outcomes of reviews I hadn’t been in touch myself.

    I do know from my site that a number of people contacted them directly and I guess that continued with the disclaimer posted on the download.

    To be honest, now I’m through to a real person they’ve been very friendly & accomodating – especially with regard to the outstanding non-upgraded users out there. Wait and see I guess.

    Strange nonetheless. I wonder if initial appeals are handled by some sort of Google AI 🙂 Cue Terminator jokes…

    I’ve not heard back yet. A number of people mentioned they were going to check in with Google for me but have been strangely silent since.

    Get your tinfoil hat!

    Seriously though, the best thing you can do is ask Google directly for me (as a result of my ban I am forbidden from contacting them). It’s probably OK especially now the Be Nice thing is removed, but a definite confirmation would remove the questions.
