And btw, Draconic, affiliate programs are not just for money, they’re also for bringing traffic to newer sites.

I think I kind of know what you’re talking about…something like what this site is using?

I’ve been curious about that myself, I have no idea how they’re doing it. LOL. Would be nice to know.

By following the instructions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

Firefox is now at version 1.5, maybe upgrading would help?

That one actually includes WordPress! I don’t use them, but I’ve been thinking about switching one of my sites over there to them, because for whatever reason, I can NOT get WP to work on this one particular site of mine.

To me it looks like your wp-config file may not be set up properly, and you need to clear out your database tables before you try running the install.php again. Just a guess.

I have a site in which I’ve removed the archives links from the navigation with no bad side effects, if that’s what you’re asking. I find that just navigating by categories is sufficient in that regard. I think it just depends on what kind of site you’re running and how visitors prefer to navigate your site.

I’m looking at your site in both IE and FF and I’m not seeing that big huge space you’re talking about. Did you fix it?

Also, I don’t get the green bars, either. When I hover over the picture, a green border comes up around the pic, which looks good.

I personally haven’t had much luck with WP 2.0 myself, but I’m in the process of having the site that I’m having the problem with moved from a windows server to linux, so maybe that will help me.

In working with WP 1.5.2, I did run across the dB connection error once. The config.php file says that most of the time you won’t have to change the hostname, but I found that for me, I did have to change that. I didn’t have to enter any server id’s or anything, just mysql hostname provided when I created my database.

Don’t know whether that will help you or not.

Did you keep the sidebar.php file on your c drive or wherever? Open it in notepad or dreamweaver or whatever program you have, edit it there, and upload it through an ftp. Will work that way.

Sitting here sick at home and just had another look. You’ve redone the sidebars and it looks much better! Thumbs up! 🙂

Yes, it was on the index page, I admit I didn’t go through the whole site. It was Internet explorer on 1024×768 that I saw the error with the “Numbers” box, and also where the content was being pushed down.

When I viewed the site in Firefox on the same resolution however, it looked fine – no error in that Numbers box, and all your content was in the right place. 🙂

Very nice! I like the idea of your blog – alas, I’m more of a budget traveler, but maybe I can upgrade one day. 🙂

I do admit I was a bit concerned that there were going to be ads with every post, and was relieved to see that there weren’t. I think any more ads than what you’ve got now would indeed be overdone. I agree with tylerwillis – I would spread them out a bit more so that they aren’t all in the top three posts…maybe every other post would be better.

You have a lot of content in your sidebar (which I actually rather like in this case, usually I don’t like so much) and probably because of that I would break up the categories just a little bit more. I would keep all the travel locations together in one group, and put the rest of the categories in another group. Just an idea – I’m kind of an organization freak.

    Hope that helps. 🙂

    Hi there.
    Well, couple problems.

In IE on a 1240×768 screen resolution:
The “Numbers” box on the right side has some sort of error in it. The box is extended out to the right. It says “185 posts
    87,962 post words
    148 comments
    8,924 comment words
    9 registered users
    17 commentators

Warning: strtotime() [function.strtotime]: Called with an empty time parameter. in /home/tyler/domains/tylerwillis.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp_jvisitors.php on line 204
    9,424 visitors
    random stats.”

The middle section section just below the top post has been pushed down the page to where the right sidebar ends.

Personally, although I do love using colors myself, I feel there’s a bit too much in the way of color/graphics going on in the sidebars. Perhaps if you reduced the number of different colors, or simplify the graphics – you’ve got a different color and texture inside every box in the sidebars, and personally, your content is the last thing I’m looking at because I’m trying to make sense of what’s going on in your sidebars. It’s a bit distracting. Just my opinion.

It looks much better in Firefox, no errors, and all your content seems to be in the appropriate places.Hope that helps. 🙂

Yeah, the background for that theme is a very tiny image with a bit of a stripe drawn on….just recolor it in paint or photoshop.
