I have exactly the same problem on my blog with Image-Attachments. Try to upload them, got a lot of strange code but no graphic file.
I also try to set up the default theme and deactivate all plugins. Doesn’t solve the problem.
So I search for Help now.
Damn, that was my fault to. I was thinking that I hit the reindex button, but I don’t 🙁
