In reply to: Error on install.phpThanks for the reply. I will try that.
I see the source of the confusion to the duplicate posts is that there are two subjects started in my user profile with the same name.
Like I said in the other (duplicate) topic I used the Word Press Online edit function within the time frame there-in described, but since the WP-edit-function appears to create duplicate topic strings. I will not use that function in the future.

In reply to: Error on install.phpI do not see your reply to my original post. – other than a link to the original version of my post before I edited it. Apparently using the edit function creates duplicate posts so if you don’t want duplicate posts , why not delete the edit function?
I see only one post by myself dispalyed, which is the editied version. The only way yhat the unedited version displays is if I click on your link, other than that the editing function appears as What you see is what you get, and not to be a trick function that creates duplicate versions. I do not know why who ever programs your software would set it up so that the moderater sees onne thing and the user sees what they expect to see: ONE Post that has been edited.

In reply to: Error on install.phpThanks . Nice to be hated. I used the edit function to edit my place. I think I hate this place as well. Nice to know the Open Source community is so pleasant and helpful.

In reply to: Error on install.phpDont understand the above. It seems to link to my own post before I edited it.
My Host Server claims that I should use the httpdocs file, which I have done. I now receive a blank page when I try to view install.php in my web browser.

In reply to: Adding Tables to DocumentI talked to my host and I was told that I should use the httpdocs file as my root file, which I have done.
I’m not sure how much confidence I have in the answer from the host since he generally answers by telling me that they charge $250.00 for installing wordpress and subsequently trying to convince me that I am incapable of installing wordpress myselfdespite what the WordPress instructions say.
If I do not get a direct answer to my most resent question to the host server (pertaining to the memory setting for PHP), I will consider changing hosts to one of the hosts reccommended by WordPress. I have ecommerce files installed using a Storesense application installed on the host server. If one of the reccommended host servers is better for transferring ecommerce files, I would appreciate a reccomendation, especially if one of them also provides free installation of OS Commerce or one of the other Open Source ecommerce solutions.

In reply to: can’t get the install.php page upI receive a blank page when I view install.php in my web browser. There is empty code when I click “view source code”
When I open install.php in my FTP application or on my server Control Panel, code is dispayed pertaining to the installation process
When I view testinfo.php in my webbrowser I get “page not found on this server” message (no 404 message). View source reveals the following code:
<!–
– Unfortunately, Microsoft has added a clever new
– “feature” to Internet Explorer. If the text of
– an error’s message is “too small”, specifically
– less than 512 bytes, Internet Explorer returns
– its own error message. You can turn that off,
– but it’s pretty tricky to find switch called
– “smart error messages”. That means, of course,
– that short error messages are censored by default.
– IIS always returns error messages that are long
– enough to make Internet Explorer happy. The
– workaround is pretty simple: pad the error
– message with a big comment like this to push it
– over the five hundred and twelve bytes minimum.
– Of course, that’s exactly what you’re reading
– right now.

In reply to: can’t get the install.php page upI am having the same problem. I saw in another post about a blank page on install.php in which it was resolved by increasing the php memory, which one has to ask one’s server about,(unless one has the right server configuration). You can find it here:http://wordpress.org/support/topic/100384?replies=5
or by searching “blank page on install.php”When I tried the previous instructions for PHP info, I received “page is not found on the server”. My server can find css files but not php files.
I haven’t asked my server about the memory yet, because they are a bit irritating to deal with. I want to figure out if it mught be due to missing htaccess files first.
I posted a question about htaccess that I can’t find. It would help if one could easily find the questions that one last asked. If there is such a way to do that , please clue me in.

In reply to: REquested Not Found on this ServerMy host said that I should use the httpdocs folder, which I did.
I saw the PhpMyAdmin says that the priveleges are set by the server. If the database does not have priveleges, would that stop the screen from displaying? PhpMyAdmin also said that the database has no tables.
I viewed the source code when I accessed the installation in my browser using http://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/install.php
It gave me this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN”>
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content=”text/html;
charset=windows-1252″></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>When I view install.php on the Ftp panel or the control panel of my webserver, I get code with information pertaining to the install.
