I am now wondering whether the links problem was caused when I duplicated the TwentyTen theme (and renamed it) to use for editing styles etc. I did this yesterday just before installing the custom sidebars plugin.
I have now de-activated the custom sidebars plugin but still the links aren’t working on the default sidebar (nor on the news page). Any advice would be very much appreciated.
That was a big help. I made a copy of the TwentyTen theme and renamed it and then used custom-sidebars plugin (as the hand coding was a bit beyond me). Thanks 🙂
