  • I discovered this posting when I began receiving hits from the link to my blog. WordPress has ignored my request to have the link removed, despite the fact that false allegations of harassment (a crime) and “slander” (actionable in civil court) constitute libel against me.

Because my respectful request was ignored, I would like to state the following, for the record:

1.) I did not continue emailing or “pinging” anyone. I simply linked to material from her blog, as is the custom when quoting other people’s work. The pingback that results is an automatic WordPress feature, not a deliberate attempt on my part to contact this person, nor does it constitute harassment by any stretch.

Because this person receives email notification of comments and pingbacks, they also went to her email account.

2.) I posted absolutely nothing that wasn’t verifiably true, which is precisely why this person received pingbacks from my blog — I linked directly to her own statements to support every word I wrote. She simply did not like what I had to say, and went to extreme measures to silence me, and even attempted to have my blog shut down.

I am only responding to this now because I am receiving hits from the link to my blog here, and the material has since been removed from public view in an effort to pacify this person who carried on day and night, for several days after everyone else involved had moved on to other things. Now I understand part of the reason:

I would suggest that in the future, WordPress staff and forum volunteers refrain from making comments like, “Something like this happened to me before”, especially when they cannot possibly know that “this” is true to begin with. Doing so seems to lend credibility to the allegations, and appears to lend WordPress’ support to the libelous statements. You might also refrain from suggesting that people take legal action without knowing whether something is actionable, as this tends to add fuel to fires that should rather be extinguished.

    Thank you and good day.

    -Lottie
