Unfortunately, “fatal error” is a generic message and tell us nothing. You need to read the email sent to the admin of the account on that site, which will contain the actual error message we need to see.

Also, please disable the Vendor Plugin. That is for developers only.

Thank you kindly for your feedback. We’ll continue to make improvements to Redux.

Thank you, kindly (and also for the nice review). I don’t like bugs or unhappy users. If it’s something I can fix, I’ll have it done by day’s end (obviously, that doesn’t include theme issues, which I have no control over). I hope to push the maintenance release here this week so you don’t have to keep using the beta version.

Well, some plugin on your server is running code that contains the classname Redux_Vendor_URL because Redux sees that classname registered and is reacting to old code from v3.

Before we spend a bunch of time trying to figure out which plugin that is and then contacting that author and insist they update their code (which they likely won’t), let’s see if the beta version of Redux solves it. I added some code to hopefully solve the issue of developers not keeping code current. Down this version (4.4.4.2): https://github.com/reduxframework/redux-framework/archive/refs/heads/master.zip and see if it solves the issue. Please post back the result.

Are you using a plugin called Redux Vendor Support? If so, disable it if you aren’t the theme author. It’s not needed.

No follow up from the OP. Closing.

Please turn off your theme and load a base WordPress theme, like Twenty-Twenty One. Then disable ALL plugins EXCEPT Redux Framework. Afterward, determine if the issue still occurs.

You see, many times, themes use Redux incorrectly, and I’ve not yet seen any data that supports Redux is the issue. Redux controls the theme’s options system, so when Redux is disabled, certain codes within the theme are not executed and it seems like the problem went away, and Redux takes the blame. See almost any post in this forum. That’s usually the case.

We do not support themes that use Redux and 1) We do not have access to premium themes, 2) Premium theme support is not allowed in these forum per WordPress guidelines, and 3) We have no control over how developers use Redux. I’ve been working on Redux for thirteen years and I’ve never seen this kind of activity except when theme developers write bad themes.. Redux, out of the box, will not spike memory usage.

You also never indicated what version you are using or what version of PHP you are running, so my guesses are limited, but if you try what I asked you to try and things don’t go haywire, then it’s clear there is a theme issue. In that case, you’ll have to contact the theme author.

Also, the version of them theme you are using is 2.8.7. The latest version is 3.4.0. You are several versions behind. Additionally, I would highly suggest updating your theme.

Also, the generator tag on your site says: Redux 4.1.24 as the version you are using. It’s over two years old.

Okay, I’m sorry. But I’m not sure why you think Redux is the issue. No data, including specific error messages, have demonstrated this.

As said previously, Redux is an options framework, so when it’s disabled, the theme options run their defaults. Usually, code inside different options sometimes triggers errors that don’t trigger when Redux is disabled. This leads people to believe Redux is the problem, when it’s not. Look at issues in this forum. 90% of them are exactly this.

Did you contact the theme author and ask for support? Technically, it is their job to determine why their theme is causing errors. If the theme author makes the determination Redux is the case, and they have the data to prove it, then we’d need to hear from them. Typically, we do not support themes or plugins that use Redux as I don’t have access to them, and I have no control over how they use Redux.

    Good luck.

This error is not caused by the Redux plugin. You may have a theme or plugin that has an embedded version of Redux that is outdated. You’ll have to determine which plugin that is and contact the author of it. They need to update their embedded version of Redux. I have no way of knowing which plugin or theme that is.

Also, when I responded to this in your original thread, I told you what to do there and asked you not to post this here in the Redux forum as we cannot assist with this issue. That hasn’t changed.

    Sorry. Good luck.

Well, here’s the problem: icl_get_home_url isn’t a function found in Redux or that Redux uses. It’s a function found in the WPML plugin (see https://gist.github.com/jrobinsonc/31054f6ec9b1227d60ea0083bf0a2287)

Redux is an options framework, so when it’s disabled, the theme options run their defaults. As Niva is a premium theme, I do not have access to it and can do no further research. The version you are running dates back to 2019, so updating the theme may be necessary. I also see you’re running WordPress 5.9. You may also need to update WordPress, as we’re up to 6.2 now.

If after these things there is still an issue, you’ll need to contact the theme author. According to their ThemeForest page, the theme supports WPML which suggests the error lies there and is triggered because the code exists in a conditional block controlled by Redux. All I can tell you for certain is that Redux isn’t the issue.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

“Critical error” is a generic message that tells us nothing. The admin of the site should have been sent an email with the specific error message. That is the data I need to see to determine if the cause is Redux or the theme.

Ok, I see what’s going on. Plugins that have Redux Framework embedded. Okay, first, the ‘redux-templates’ feature of Redux the plugin was removed last September. It’s no longer in the current Redux release and hasn’t been for ten months now.

Unfortunately, developers are still able to embed Redux for their options panel (I think wp.org requires it). It’s not a recommended practice, as developers often do not stay current with releases. It’s nothing we have any control over. Consequently, if the OP has a plugin that has an old version of Redux embedded (which hasn’t been established), the onus falls upon the developer of that plugin to update their plugin with the current code. We cannot and do not support themes or plugins that have Redux embedded, as we cannot update their code. What I don’t want is for others to blame Redux the plugin and send the issue to me when it’s actually the developer of the plugin who needs to handle it by updating their embedded code. That’s what Composer is for.

So, the error is still, in fact, React Redux, even if it’s possibly an outdated embedded version of Redux Framework (how I despise the name confusion). If it’s an outdated embedded install of Redux in someone else’s plugin, then the issue belongs to the plugin developer. Will installing Redux the plugin override the embedded version and get rid of the error? It’s supposed to. Sometimes it doesn’t, depending on what hook the developer initializes their embed. There’s a right way and a wrong way. Many do it wrong. I’ve found that many people prefer to run as few plugins as possible, and why some will resist the solution.

    Sorry for the confusion.
