In reply to: how to install what elseAs for installation, if you aren’t feeling up to doing the installation yourself, you might see if your hosting company offers a one click installer:
This might help get your WordPress installation up and running.DreamWeaver is a program used to create webpages, and you won’t need to do that for WordPress, just choose a theme that is more image or photography oriented. This way your images will have the focus.

In reply to: Giving up…any alternatives?I don’t know if this helps any, but I have never written a line of code in my entire life and I run WordPress just fine. If you are having trouble with something, you might want to ask around and see if you know someone who can help you get up and running in exchange for a meal or something. That’s how I got set up!
Once everything is up and running it shouldn’t be too difficult to maintain, there isn’t a lot to keeping up on a WordPress install.
You used exactly the right word: ignorant. That just means you don’t know how. It isn’t hard to learn though! My biggest issue was being overwhelmed by the amount of stuff there was to do. Once I just concentrated on each step one at a time it was a lot less intimidating.
If you are having trouble I’m sure the forums can help you through it. You will be much happier in the long run with your own installation.
Also you might want to check out your hosting company and see if they offer a “one-click” install of WordPress so you don’t have to do all the heavy lifting yourself.
Hope this helps.

In reply to: Whole Blog Destroyed Need Help Fast!!!You should have access via FTP to your webhost. When you’re logged in via FTP, go to the WordPress folder and then in wp-content, go to plugins, and remove the Twitter For WordPress plugin. It sounds like that is what is causing trouble. Your webhost should have instructions for how to log in via FTP on their website, and if not a quick call or email to support should get to someone who can help you.

In reply to: The Most Newbie WordPress Question EverWordPress is blogging software that lives on your web host, so it will live on a remote computer where your website is hosted. Some web hosting companies offer a “one click” install where you just answer some basic questions and the software is set up for you.
As for the blogging itself, you can either do all your writing in the WordPress dashboard (remotely, through your website), or you can use one of a variety of offline blog writing applications listed here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Weblog_Client
to do the writing and then post the entry using your software. As for your domain name, you can purchase hosting for it and then that hosting is where you would install WordPress and start blogging.

In reply to: New Themes… Anyone? You can add themes two different ways:
1. Google for the kinds of themes you’re looking for (blue, two column, photography) and download the .zip file for that particular theme. Then in your WordPress Admin panel, go to Appearance and click on Add New Themes. In there you can upload the .zip files for the themes you have found.
2. In your WordPress Admin panel, go to Appearance and click on Add New Themes. In there, you also have an option to search. This search is looking at themes uploaded to WordPress.org. If you find one you like, just click on install and the theme will be installed for you.
Once you have a theme (or multiple themes) uploaded, you can then choose which one to activate. I suggest putting up a few posts first so you have a better idea how the page will look when you apply a new theme.

In reply to: how to add favicon (favourate icon) in wordpressAnother idea is that you can take an image and run it through a favicon generator (there is a link on the Codex page above) and then manage it using a plugin. The advantage to that is if you change themes or do a lot of custom work you can end up having to upload your favicon or create custom code to point to it over and over again. With something like Shocking Simple Favicon you can set it once and not have to worry about it again. I have used this plugin for a few versions now and it isn’t very complex so it hasn’t broken itself or anything else so far.
