    i am new to wordpress. my current version of word press is 2.8.4 .

    can any one tell me how to add favicon in wordpress.

  • If you are talking about the icon near site (such as here diamond if to look in the favorites)I just done my icon by paint in 16 colors and named it “favicon.ico”, puted it into my main directory and after that you shoul wait for about 24 hours

    Another idea is that you can take an image and run it through a favicon generator (there is a link on the Codex page above) and then manage it using a plugin. The advantage to that is if you change themes or do a lot of custom work you can end up having to upload your favicon or create custom code to point to it over and over again. With something like Shocking Simple Favicon you can set it once and not have to worry about it again. I have used this plugin for a few versions now and it isn’t very complex so it hasn’t broken itself or anything else so far.

    Shocking Simple Favicon is indeed the most simple solution if you don’t want to wade though the hassles of FTP and favicon generators, an inconvenience I’ve repeatedly gone through for my own sites before SSF appeared on my radar.
