I’ve taken a lot of care to make sure GDE doesn’t overlap with other plugins or with WP itself. I find a lot of other plugin authors don’t do this very well, which still causes problems sometimes. That said, I just installed and activated “simple lightbox” and it didn’t seem to affect GDE at all, and was able in a trivial test to have GDE displaying on the same page as a lightboxed image.

There is no setting that accomplishes this, however you can get basically this effect with the enhanced viewer and a custom style sheet. Feel free to contact me privately (via support tab in GDE Settings) if you need personal assistance with this.

There are currently compatibility issues between Google Viewer (which GDE embeds) and IE11. Unfortunately we all must wait for Microsoft or Google to resolve those issues.

Chrome on Win 7 is most definitely supported, so given it works everywhere else I would suggest it’s probably cache or cookie related.

Another hostgator user reported the same problem when using the enhanced viewer. It appears there is some system policy or web server configuration that prevents the enhanced viewer from loading properly.
A 403 error means you aren’t authorized – you’re trying to do something you’re not allowed to, or that you haven’t entered the right credentials to do. GDE is an anonymous service and does not require any configuration or authorization of users at all. So it does not appear to be something I can fix on my end.
I’m continuing to look at the issue and if I can come up with a workaround I’ll let you know. Until that time you can either use the standard viewer (without document security) or try a different plugin for this functionality.

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] Google doc Embedder and internet explorer 10-11There is indeed a compatibility problem with IE11, but unfortunately it’s not with GDE, but with Google Viewer (which GDE embeds). Microsoft and Google will have to coordinate on a fix… As the browser gains in popularity I’m sure they will have to address the issue, but there’s unfortunately nothing I can do about it but wait.

There aren’t any known issues with Safari (though I don’t have a mac to test specifically), but the problems you describe are commonly caused by browser cache or Google cookie conflicts. If you haven’t already, try clearing your browser cache, and logging out (and optionally back in) to any Google account you might be logged into. That might be sufficient to solve the problem.

In reply to: [Code Freeze] My site is now frozen and I can't deactivate pluginThere is no trick to deactivation, just deactivate from the plugin list or manually delete (or rename) the plugin folder using FTP or your web host’s file manager. Code Freeze does not make any actual changes to your site and removing it by brute force if necessary will have no bad effects.
That said there was an issue where the previous version did not support plugin list deactivation in WP 3.7.1. I apologize for this and have fixed it in the updated version. Please note the versions the plugin supports fully at the time of install!

In reply to: [Google Doc Embedder] Does not properly display my xlsx spreadsheetBecause the viewer works by converting all of the pages (or sheets, in the case of a spreadsheet) into images, you don’t lose anything by converting the source document to XLS or even PDF format if your XLSX document is not supported. Sorry for this inconvenience.

If you experience activation errors, these can be overcome just by deactivating and reactivating the plugin from the plugin list. In some environments there are occasions where the install process has trouble creating the initial tables it requires on the first activation. Sorry about this.

By now I’m sure you’ve forgotten this issue entirely, but the quicktags are the simple buttons above the plain text editor (not visible in the “visual” editor). All it does is let you paste in a URL, highlight it, and click GDE to wrap it in a basic shortcode. The other methods will probably serve you better, anyway, but this is convenient for those who prefer the text editor over the visual one.

In reply to: [Code Freeze] Help! I can't deactivate code freezeI was able to reproduce the problem you encountered and it is addressed in the most recent update. However, if this ever reoccurs you just need to delete the plugin manually to remove all effects.
