My mistake, I only tried it with Jetpack and Feedburner. I couldn’t not find a plugin in Subscribe2, only something called Subscribe2 Widget Pro, which can’t be used without Subscribe2.

They have, they receive a confirmation email for signing up but do not receive emails when new posts published. I have tested this with a few of my own email address and have even checked my spam folders and nothing is being sent
